IIRC Coyle wasn't all that physical in the AHL. Coyle simply fit a line better than Granlund. That's it. Neither one was going to be expected to be anything more than a complimentary player this year, and Coyle found a slot that fit while Granlund didn't.

Many expected too much from Granny. It was somewhat justified considering the hype that was around him. In reality though, what you said is pretty much how it is. Coyle fit a line better, so he got the spot.

He'll be fine, young players adapt at various ages some do it right away other need some time. He also suffers from a few handicaps, the biggest being we need wins so he doesn't have the 10ish games of being able to be with one line like he would in a full season.
