Fine I guess. Like for like. Though I wonder why the Canucks weren't planning on qualifying Chaput.

Seems to have decent numbers in his small NHL stints.

Sure, why not?

Always had a feeling that Kero was going to play here some day.

Benning gets fleeced again ;)

Honestly, I'll defer to our AHL guys as I don't know anything about Kero.

Chaput couldn't play centre and if Kero can then great.

This is as lateral a trade as it gets. Same age, same position, same role.

I liked Chaput and thought he was good enough to stick in the NHL, and he's a better AHL scorer than Kero. Kero's NHL production in 16-17 is better than anything Chaput has ever done, though.

Kero is a center and has killed penalties when up with Chicago in the past.

I personally didn't mind Chaput as much as some of those who detested him during Willie D's reign. He's serviceable and makes a good 4th liner & on the 3rd line (in spurts). Change of scenery trade for both guys.

Same age and similar AHL production but Kero actually had some success at the NHL level two years ago putting up 16 points in 47 games. On the surface it seems like a good swap.

Chaput isn't a centre and if Kero is then the deal makes lots of sense for our AHL club.

Lots of young wingers should be on the comets this season.

Chaput is absolutely a center and has played there almost exclusively with both Vancouver and Utica.

Sounds like a contract dump by Chicago. Chicago was already at 45 contracts with Jurco and Duclair still unsigned. I wouldn't be surprised if Chicago doesn't qualify Chaput.

Meanwhile Kero helps fill the hole at center in Utica.

I actually like Chaput more. A bit more size.

Kero is unlikely to be anything more than AHL journeyman anyway.

Stop trading with chicago

Tanner Kero has put up solid numbers in his NHL stints.

Last year he registered 3 points in 8 games for the Blackhawks and 20 points in 36 games for Rockford.

He’s only 25 should be a solid piece for Utica who can play in the NHL when injuries arise.
