The "fairly mediocre" Brett Pesce would easily be your #2D, and in the way his two-way play and defensive acumen would perfectly complement Rielly allowing him to excel...Pesce could easily be the MVP of the Leafs blueline.

The price is reflective of that reality.

I'm not a fan of measuring worth as being the best in the position on the roster. As an example, just because Kadri would be a #1 C on a team doesn't mean that they can command a franchise C price for him. At the end of the day he is still an ideal #2 C.
