It's a nice thing to want McIlrath to succeed but at this point, it's just a moot point.

Not cheering against him but it's kind of an indicator of how far he has to go at this point...he's gotta get back into the groove AND continue to improve, and it's a bit tough to jump into that cold

Another bad sequence for McIlrath. His skating is not very good at all. From what I have seen, terrible acceleration foot speed. Opposite of Brady or Mac's "skate out of trouble footspeed"

I don't buy the "he hasn't played an NHL game in a while" argument too much because it's not like he hasn't been practicing most days and just suddenly jumps into a regular season game. Practices are undervalued.

It will be interesting to watch him for a few more games.
