Based on that decision, I wonder if he consulted with a PR firm. Either way, hopefully, he can learn and grow from this awful incident, and more importantly, make a sincere apology that this woman actually believes. Second chances are good, but they do need to be earned by actions in my mind.

I'm curious, was there any sort of explanation as to why he filmed/posted the pics? Or was he just a dick? Didn't know if it was one of those revenge porn things (which isn't excusable, just an explanation). I'm guessing "just a dick".

The excuse given was that he was the new guy and tried to impress guys on his hockey teams whatsapp group, or somesuch.

I'm not saying it's an excuse, but the fact that he was a teenager may well have factored into the equation. Isn't it believed that the human brain doesn't reach maturity until the mid 20s? I know I was a lot more of a dick when I was younger than I am now. Depending on how I gauged his sincerity level I wouldn't necessarily write the kid off just yet. Having said that, the cynic in me would want to try to determine how much of his twitter post reflected his own sentiments and how much might have come from some pr consultant.

Too easy. Must not respond. Must not respond.

Just to clarify because I could see how my earlier post might be misinterpreted; I'm not trying to justify this kid's action or write it off. The question in my mind is that given that the kid was 17yo, how much of the action might have been thoughtlessness (i.e., an impulsive action with the possible repercussions not even entering the kid's consciousness) vs. outright dickishness (just not caring, think Sean Avery). IF his twitter statement was sincere and not a pr move it could have been much of the former, and if the kid learned from the experience he may be a different person today than when he posted the photo. Big if, and still gotta show that's the case, imo.

....agree.....and feel that because of the pervasiveness and insidiousness of social media, dumb-ass 16-17 year olds who maybe should know better but are....well, dumb-ass teenagers get ruined for life.

I'm not saying that this is a case of this at all, just commenting on how those of us of a certain age never had to relive our stupidity and indiscretions....well at least not much.

Do we have a policy for guys with a last name as his first name and a first name as his last name?

Here are the 5 players I would most like to see taken tomorrow

  1. Jack Peart (D)
  2. Francesco Arcuri (C/W)
  3. Kalle Ervasti (D)
  4. Guillaume Richard (D)
  5. Gage Alexander (G)

I've seen one mock draft (Sporting News I think) that says Peart is our 1st round pick and another saying he's falling to us in round 2.

It would be great to get Peart in 2nd, but he has risen on most lists inside 40.

My order wasn't round, just my preference. For instance, I think Arcuri will be available in 4th as will Ervasti. Richard should be close at the end of the 3rd. Alexander will be there in 6th and likely 7th.

It is such a crapshoot from ~10-40 that I am excited to sit back and see who falls and who the Canes pick. This is the Draft to swing on upside. From what I have seen from rankings and mocks I like Stankoven, Raty or Lysell at the Canes pick. On the defensive side Peart and Svozil seem up the Canes' alley. A falling Sebastian Cossa would be great.

I am just excited to see who they pick and then read up on them. I don't think they will play it safe so if they take a Tyler Boucher, Chibrikov, Tuomaala/Koivunen, etc. it will just be fun to project what they project.

I'd still probably rather it be moved, but if we draft someone, I've at least read up just enough to be excited on a handful of guys.

Pronman’s “ day of” mock has the Canes ending up with L’Heureux. I’d be ok with that.

He also says at that point in the draft it’s up in the air who’d CAR would pick and that there’s real need to re-stock the D pipeline.

That was my pick in the board mock poll. I'd be happy with him.

I wonder if we are awaiting the bug deal to see who is there at with 1st. Trade includes this 1st rounder if someone is there that really interests gaining team, if not 2022
