How's he been playing recently? Pretty quiet lately while the other Calder favorites (including an unexpected one from the desert) are slowly catching up to him.

Points aside, he has been really good. Lots of posts (unfortunately) but he drives the play a lot. Is relentless on both the forecheck and backcheck. Draws a lot of penalties.

Yeah Matty has been finding a lot of posts lately. He’s playing hard just been a little unlucky.

Not much puck luck as of late but he's been excellent defensively. Incredibly smart in finding his man in the d-zone and can be trusted to make a smart play when he as the puck in the d-zone too. He rarely makes "rookie mistakes" it feels.

Of course they have the same type of nose Mario is French Canadian and Beniers is American with French background I'm sure. His name gives it away though not pronounced in the French way

No doubt 1C potential. 65-70 point season.

1C for sure with potential to hit a 120 pts...50 goals and 70 assists

Yeah. Honestly, I was looking for an excuse not to watch, and now I have it... and it gives players more time to heal. No other team in the league gets this sort of break this year... hope it doesn't lead to rustiness.

I honestly don't care about the all-star game at all and generally just miss it. But, I am bummed that Beniers ends up missing it. But I am more concerned about his concussion (assuming) and how he is dealing with it.

I don't know who here are new hockey watchers vs long-time, but I think the all star game is worth watching just to get familiar with some of the best players in the game. It is a bummer that the Kraken won't be represented though

Today's New England French instead descend from Quebecois immigrants from the 1800s and early 1900s who came down from Quebec in search of work in the mills. There's about a 90% chance that's where the Beniers family hails from.
