I mean, judging by what players will put themselves through in the playoffs its possible that him being cleared in the playoffs was the wrong rather than the other way around.

It has no impact. Whether a contract is covered by insurance is a case-by-case scenario but injury prone players' contracts become harder to insure.

I don't think the Leafs would do this without having their bases covered. I would think Murray was assessed by a doctor and the doctor gave his assessment that he is unfit to play.
