He didn't play the last 6 months because taking shots in warmup caused him to injure himself. He probably went to the gym and after 3 squats broke both legs and needs the year off.

I mean, judging by what players will put themselves through in the playoffs its possible that him being cleared in the playoffs was the wrong rather than the other way around.

But also it was a concussion. Symptoms can be very unpredictable.
