Duchene would cost montreal KK, domi or drouin...or your best young D+first rounder

Duchene is a number once center in his prime atm, these guys dont come around often

Dont think this trade would even happen tho whatever the pieces are, no way Dorion trades our number one center to a rival

Not enough to get you Duchene but I also do not want Duchene. Domi is establishing himself as top 6 C and because all there is left is danault, this is giving KK the opportunity to be groomed for the other top 6 C spot.

Duchene is a 60pt player on a contract year and will want to cash in as if he scores 80pts+. I'm not saying he wouldn't help right now but I do not trust that he can maintain his current production long term and as such the risk would be too high given what the sens would ask.

Duchene would be an interesting addition in Montreal but no point in giving up assets for him.

Also OP’s value is obviously well below the price needed to acquire Duchene. Guy doesn’t represent Habs fans anymore than Don Cherry represents Leafs fans.

The only players with more even strength points than Duchene in 2018 are McDavid and Mackinnon.

Try again. Actually, wait, don't. Duchene will probably be re-signed and 100% won't be dealt to the Habs. I mean, if you offer up Kotkaniemi we'd jump at it, but that's about it.

waivers! waivers! waivers!

Bottomline, people don't know the value of the habs players, from them all our players are straight **** except domi and kotka.

The deal is fair, but doesn't make any sense from both team. Again, people don't give a good value to our players. just look at plekanec return vs what those armchairs gm said " plekanec gonna give you a 5th". they also don't look at advanced stats and they mostly only look at offensive points.

Most of montreal players are 200 ft players, Danault, Shaw, Lekh, etc. ya they won't score that much but they are worth a lot more than what people think.

it's like the Karlsson trade, people only look the offensive points of the players, but the Karlsson trade gave amazing players to Ottawa, most of them extremely useful on 200 ft. People said dorion got rob on that trade, honestly Ottawa won that trade.

Honestly, the way you are getting burned on this thread I'm surprised you can continue to try and defend this crap. I don't think people have necessarily downgraded Habs players, I think the issue is that you are downplaying the value of Duchene at Trade deadline. Using your very own analysis that an old washed up Plekanec fetched a 2nd rounder, what's a 1st/2nd line centre who has 34 points in 29 games worth?. He would be leading the Habs in points this year.

In my best Chris Berman voice, C'mon man...

I'm surprised this thread has lasted this long. I mean, it's unanimous, both sides and impartial fans as well agree that there is nothing to talk about here.

god you are not so smart, Bruins goons fan I see.
First, It's my first post in that thread... I didn't get burned once... lol ?
secondly, you didn't understand much of my text and ignored the important points... go back to school, Boston has some great universities I heard

A 3rd line center, a healthy scratch and 2 B prospects are not gonna cut it

Danualt is playing 1c on a winning canadiens team. Hes easily a 2c on most other teams with his defensive play, forechecking, and offensive potential due to his age.

Why are you saying God isn't smart? commas are your friend. I'm not sure what to say, perhaps its a language thing but clearly most people think your offer is far from fair, hence the burn reference. Not sure what the Boston goons fan comment has to do with anything but either way nice attempt. BTW, although I support the Bruins you can see from my Avatar that I live in Ontario, about an hour from Montreal.

have a nice day and I hope you continue to try and justify this mockery of a trade. great reading

your comment that "the deal is fair", although not the initial proposal your support for this ludicrous deal that is being flamed sums up my thoughts.

Is it possible the real Forrest Gump came up with this proposal?

From Montreal's perspective, no interest in trading for Duchene and then having to pay him what he wants. Let Ottawa try to sign him or trade him at the deadline if they want. Habs should try to sign Duchene as a UFA, then it would be worth it to overpay a bit for him in dollars. Then Habs could package Danault, Hudon and whoever else to get a LHD. If that happened, the team would be pretty potent as of next year, with Poehling, Suzuki and Brook coming up the ranks.

I’ve seen a lot of people try and trade a bunch of lesser assets for one good asset, but I’ve never seen someone trade a bunch of assets nobody’s ever wanted for a top 20 centerman.

Baffled,

Hfboards never seizes to surprise me.

Me neither, but who's the top 20 center

Not for a UFA Duchene tho
I agree with the bolded, don't see a trade here. Ottawa should resign him at 8-9M long term.

Assuming Ottawa and Duchene cant agree on a new contract and that the Habs are in the playoffs race , they probably move him at the deadline to get some assets, here is my proposal:

To Habs: Duchene
To Ottawa: Danault + Hudon + Ikonen + Hillis\McShane
That's awful for the Sens. Duchene's on pace for around 100 points. A 3rd line centre, a player who's scratched, Ikonen and Hillis for Duchene is completely unrealistic. I'm a Habs fan but making these awful proposals makes our fan base look bad.

Counter: Mete/Juulsen, Lehkonen/Armia + Danault + 2018 1st.

That said, we aren’t trading him to Montreal irrespective of anything.

If Duchene is traded at the TDL he'll receive similar what Ottawa gave up for him, minus Turris.

A supposedly mid/late 1st, B+ prospect, 2nd-4th.
