Even if Ottawa thought about trading Duchene, I doubt Dorion wants to move more of his players to his division since that Hoffman mess. Also, for the amount they paid for Duchene, to undersell him for that much, jeez. I mean they would at least want a 1st Rounder considering they don’t have their own.

I'm a Habs fan, and that ain't gonna cut it. A middle six center, a fringe player with skill, and a Finn falling down the depth chart of prospects aren't going to get you Duchene. They're going to be looking for a blue chip prospect, a first and more.

Unless Duchene does not want to be there I don’t see why a deal doesn’t get done.

Ottawa has the cap space and he will get first line minutes.

As for the trade, just awful. Should lock it up.

Start with 2019 st no protection.
Then add player or prospect as I am sure it would come with the stipulation that he resign.

Personally if Habs are looking to spend assets I think they go after top 4 LHD.

Special K will be a stud in two years;
Domi has flourished as a C
Phoeling will be a great 3C
Danault will be a fantastic 4C

I don't want anything with duchene, I don't like the player and I don't like the guy. he's a negative energy in the lockeroom, was in Colorado ( mostly with Roy) and was is in Ottawa

I’ve seen a lot of people try and trade a bunch of lesser assets for one good asset, but I’ve never seen someone trade a bunch of assets nobody’s ever wanted for a top 20 centerman.

1) That seems pretty cheap for a rental Duchene;
2) Ottawa REALLY doesn't like trading in-conference, let alone to rivals; and
3) Montreal doesn't really need a rental Duchene.
