Swift Current up 3-2 on Acadie-Bathurst after the 2nd. The Broncos coughed up a shorty and have been vastly outplayed in the second, but killing a few penalties would make it look that way too. Skinner made some nice saves during those two or three penalty kills. Swift Current is also playing with a short bench as Khaira and Steenburgen are both hurt. I'm not sure what happened to Khaira as I missed the first period and the first few minutes of the second.

Khaira didn't dress at all, I believe the broadcast said he's sick.

I love junior hockey. So much more exciting then watching the pros.

This OT should be exciting

Titans win it in OT. Boooooo.

Swift Current was either playing gassed or Acadie is a much faster team. I thought Swift was lucky to get it to OT especially after giving up two shirt handed goals.

Swift is not a fast team, there are huge team that has one shot shooters, and their defence usually keep teams to the outside.

It’s the way they played all season

They just didn't generate much due to their slowness and Acadie's speed. Their goalie wasn't really pressured much and when he was, it seemed like he had no idea where the puck was.

When Gawdin had the breakaway in the opening minute of the third, I figured if he scored there, they likely win...but that was the only save I saw where their goalie had to come up big.

I still wonder if fatigue isn't a factor as well. They've played the most playoff hockey of any team at the Memorial Cup with 26 playoff games played. Of those 26 games, they've played four single OT games, a double OT game and a triple OT game, plus travel to Everett Washington for the finals, which is close to 1000 km away. I believe both teams flew for the finals and even though SC won the championship a week ago, that all still takes a toll.

That said, losing Steenburgen during the game and missing Khaira entirely for this one also left two big holes on their team for this game.

In 2009-2010 the Moncton Wildcats had a similar playoff run with tough matchups and lots of OT games. They had a very difficult matchup in the Q final eliminating the Saint John Sea Dogs that had a lineup of superstars (Hoffman, Huberdeau, Jurco, Beaulieu). They had nothing left when the Memorial cup tournament started. I agree with you that the Broncos look to be in a similar situation.

Yep, they very well could be. I still think one of the two WHL teams will win it all though.

Ducks can draft. Steel is fire but Mahura is very solid himself.

Definitely nice to see the odd Oiler in the memorial cup.

I'm going with the Pats taking it all. Solid young goaltender who missed out on the playoffs people don't understand.

Skinner did quite good considering the amount his team was outshot by.
Skinner really relies on his size and positioning. He is very rigid...plays kid of upright. His athleticism is ok, but not a strength. He’s in a great situation on swift. They play a solid defensive game that keeps shooters to the outside. His size and positioning make him a great first save goaltender. He struggles with second chances, but swift strong defensive system helps to box out the opponent and limit those second chance opportunities.

Reminds me a lot of Dubnyk.
