I like this idea a lot better. And honestly they could just have the host city be the team that won it last year as well. So for this year it would have been London.

I know this would never happen in a million years but i think it would be cool to see a march madness style single elimination tournament. Maybe take the best 16 teams and have a regional playdown until you reach the final four.

Every hockey tournament is the same. World jrs, Memorial Cup, CIS, ect. I would find it interesting to see one league do it differently. The one knock on the Memorial cup is that it comes after 4 rounds of playoff hockey. Swift Current had 0 gas left in the tank. Less games might make better hockey.

The host team has to prove to the committee that they can compete and are one of the contenders in the CHL. Yes I know it's awarded a year in advance but the committee does look at rosters when awarding the host city.

Not saying it's perfect.

I don't think that would work because there's only a handful of CHL organizations that can make a Mem Cup run and avoid blowing it up(or being left with very little) the following season.

He could barely make Bridgeport and we were giving away picks like candy for an unproven player. There is where you package the picks with a player for a #1 or #2 Dman
