You guys have looked great as of late I’ll give you that
I wouldn't quite say great, but you can definitely see that they have structure now vs with DJ. Goaltending has still been pretty bad for the most part. But 6-2-2 in their last 10 is encouraging.

Finally having all 4 of Sanderson, Chychrun, Chabot and Zub healthy has been a huge factor, as has Shane Pinto and the emergence of Ridly Greig.

It takes about 25-30 games to start to see the coaches system form

Also @TkachukNorris79 gutsy win verse Red Wings

Chychrun likely not staying, the answer is clearly trade the other young LHD so that once again Chabot is on an island alone on the left side. Chychrun or Chabot will be the ones moved if a LHD is moved.

We need more Sandersons not less
Agreed. Thanks but no thanks.

The greatest need for the Senators is a good RD.

This seems like a trade for the sake of making a trade versus addressing any organizational needs (at least from a Senator's perspective).

Sanderson is Ottawa's best defenseman. He is cost controlled for 8 more seasons. There is no chance they would trade him.

Other than Zub, they don't have any other defenseman who can play a shutdown role for 20+ minutes a night. Other than being left-handed, Chychrun and Chabot do not affect Sanderson because they could not handle his role. Conversely, Sanderson can QB a powerplay and affect the game offensively or with his transition game. He's an all-around #1 defenseman who can do it all.

On a side note, I recall there being a rumour that Anaheim had Sanderson higher than Drysdale.

McTavish is Anaheim's best player IMO. And with Zellweger, Mintyukov, Luneau, etc. as the d corps of the future, can't see Verbeek even giving a trade for Sanderson a second thought.

Without looking at value, Ducks have a plethora of a defensive prospect group that is already headlined by some blue chip prospects. I get that they’re deep at centre as well with Zegras & Carlsson but it seems both teams are trading for surpluses.

Ottawa has a good record when all three of Stützle, Norris & Pinto all playing. That’s not to mention Greig now.

Unless we think Hamara, Kleven or Stanley can come in and replace Sanderson (far from likely) we can’t afford to make this deal.

maybe something around zegras and chabot. both could use a change of scenery.
Why do they have better trainers in Ottawa? Why would Zegras possibly need a change of scenery?

People say the most confusing stuff about him on the board it’s truly mind boggling.

Both teams open up significant holes on their roster to trade for a player in a position of strength... nice. Sanderson and Tkachuk are probably the last two players the Sens trade, even though I think at least one big move is necessary, and McTavish is the Ducks captain within two years - both teams give a hard no

Because what the Sens need is definitely to trade their only good defenseman for another center who doesn’t play a lick of defense in addition to Stutzle and Norris.

Sounds like these teams are bad trade partners. Both need a high end RD. This trade would take a strength for Ottawa (LD) and make them needing another high end LD while making a strength elite (C). It would make a strength for the Ducks (LD) elite but create a hole in a future strength (top 6 forwards). Both teams look like they're going to draft high, both are gong to be going RD is bpa at the draft.

Don't really want to see Sanderson go anywhere. Need to keep him away from Chabot who appears to be hitting the bong on the bench between shifts and forgetting he's actually playing real hockey and not the pond style.
