Why? There are actually people asking why?

Our pp is atrocious and it's costing us games. Mab should help and if it keeps Tim Brent off the point then it is already worth the seventh and hall who has shown nothing and is easily replaced by wallace. Muller will undoubtedly dress seven dmen and use mab on the pp where he has shown himself to be very effective.

I think somebody needs to test JR's water bottle...I think it's filled with some high-test moonshine.

As someone who as consumed so high-test moonshine, I am offended.

Well, at least we're trying to improve the PP. Guess we dress 7 now, I sure as hell don't want him seeing regular 5 on 5 time. Not sure if this means McBain is out though, as others have said, it still only make sense if we get a defenseman back in a trade.

Is it really going to twist your **** if instead of dressing Westgarth they dress 7 D and have MAB play 8-10 minutes a night, almost entirely on PPs?

Is it a day that ends in "Y"? :)

At this point I'm almost willing to dress fans out of the stands if it would help this PP. Perhaps as some sort of raffle prize.

We could dress someone to stand by the net and whenever someone starts getting too close, they just fall over on top of them, a la that time Peters earned his Humpy Dawg nickname.

Basically a nothing to lose move - no future consequences, just trying a stop gap fix to for the anemic power play.
I only hope the plan for MAB is to dress 7 dmen and let him play only PP minutes. We can sit Westgarth who basically is a waste of space on the bench night in and night out.
Faulk seems just about ready to come back so this is plausible even if we do end up trading Mcbain.

Watch him go on an Islanders like 21 points in 23 games as we storm into the playoffs and dominate everyone with our Harrison Bergeron handicaps.

But seriously, I think Joe Corvo needed somebody on the team that shot harder than him and was worse defensively. We found the only guy out there.

As a Montreal fan: MAB has made a career out of PPG's from the point. He's ok when used in very limited situations at even-strength and can play the odd shift at forward.

He will definitely help the powerplay though.

Well, that was unexpected.

Can't argue with the logic of dressing him as a 7th dman. That allows both him and another defenseman (Bellemore?) to operate as specialty players. The 4th line hardly plays and is terrible anyway, and Muller seems to like double-shifting guys like Eric and Ruutu.

If that's not the plan, well... I don't even know. The defensive group is such a cluster already, it's hard to imagine adding a MAB.

Sucks to lose Hall, but it sounds like there was some maneuvering behind the scenes to get him back to Tampa.

Pretty much this - it amounts to MAB for a 7th rounder. Let's just be extra careful to keep him away from our goalies, though.

My dad and I used to joke when watching hockey about how nobody would ever employ our "stack defense," which consisted exclusively of D-men just lying in front of the crease like logs. You could go two deep or head to toe for maximum coverage.

I cannot ******* believe this. An undersized offensive D? Seriously JR??

He has a serious problem. I've never promoted JR being fired, but this is getting stupid. The man does not understand how to build a defense.

Agreed. It's a lifeline to the power play, but given the cost was Hall and a 7th I can't argue with buying what amounts to a lottery ticket for the PP. With MAB that lottery ticket actually has a decent chance of paying off on the PP.

My biggest concern is Muller's attitude toward McBain and Jokinen on the PP extending to MAB: if you aren't doing your job at even strength you don't get PP time. He can't have that attitude with MAB; he needs to be a PP specialist.

I am very surprised by the "why's" from some of the more learned posters on this board. The PP is the most awful thing about this team, we get a PP specialist for a 7th rounder, and there's still b*tching and moaning. Sometimes I think that some of you want the team to fold up their tent and leave.

Looks like he sat in the press box several times this season including 10 games out of 14 to start the season. At least one of games he was also sitting with Adam Hall. I don't know much about him but I don't think there's much to see here. I'll agree, however, that our PP can't get worse and fellow press boxer Hall wasn't doing anything of importance. So, if he helps the PP, JR's won back a little respect. If not, I won't be surprised.

If MAB effectively plugs a PP point for the remainder of the season, fine, but we still don't have a defense.
