Make a trade with your favorite team with this team that MAKES SENSE FOR BOTH SIDES. It can be 1 for 1, taking on a bad contract, flipping 7th rounders, whatever you deem is necessary to not only make your team better but the other one too. If it's a rebuilding/retooling side they obviously want something for the future.

Marleau + Sandin for futures
Zaitsev + Kapanen for futures
Brown + 2nd for futures

Am I doing this right? That seems to be the nonsense people are thinking is going to happen.

Marleau + Sandin for Stone + Kylington

Saves around 3M for Tor

This gunna be good!

29th + eaves
for
kadri

Ducks get a 2/3c to help with steel getting used to the nhl, and we can try to move Henrique... Toronto jumps back in the 1st round and frees up kadris cap space. I imagine more has to come from Anaheim... 39th prob too much, we don't have a 3rd and not sure the 4th means too much for Toronto.

AZ: Kessel

TOR: 14th OA

PIT: Kapanen + AZ 2019 2nd (45th OA)

Arizona and Pittsburgh can just cut out the middle-man Toronto and make a deal themselves. Pretty sure Pittsburgh would rather have 14th overall. That, or Toronto needs to accept 21st OA from Pittsburgh and not retain AZ's pick.

Kapanen for the 14th OA is good value for the Leafs.

Of course it is, but Pittsburgh is giving up the better player. Kessel > Kapanen, Pittsburgh is going to want the better pick and not some measly 2nd attached to Kapanen. You are guaranteed a better crack at a better prospect at 14 than 21.

That poster is a Pens fan. The Pens drafted him, he was faller in the draft and he's looking pretty good right now coming off a big step forward. He can step in immediately and they know how good he is.

Some might say unrealistic value for the Leafs.
If the Leafs don't have to move Kapanen for cap reasons, which seems easy enough to accomlish, I don't think the Leafs make the trade. Kapanen is a developing top-6 winger at 22, was a high pick who fell in his draft and he is one of the fastest players in the NHL. What's going to help Pittsburgh more next season? What are the odds the pick is better than Kapanen, who has already proven himself? How long will said player take to contribute? Crosby and Malkin are getting older. Kessel could regress at some point, while Kapanen seems likely to get better and is physical, defensively sound and can play big roles on both the PP and PK.

Kapanen's RFA rights for McGinn's RFA rights+37OA

Carolina uses its futures depth to take a chance on Kapanen's potential.

Toronto gets what should be a cheaper Top 9 LW/RW that brings a LHS and adds some additional jam to lineup. The high 2nd helps to backfill for what was lost in the Muzzin trade and what might be lost in a Marleau and/or Zaitsev trade.

I agree in terms of Kapanen, being a decent asset.
Not a top 15 OA asset in the draft.

I don't understand how a 22 year old winger loses value after being developed into a top 6 forward. He was taken in the low 20's, you are saying a pick a few spots higher is unrealistic? Getting a player as good as Kappy at that pick is unrealistic.

Leafs wouldn't entertain unless they were forced to by the cap.
