Nurse will be due a raise next year and you only have have two more years of RNH at 6m. You have bad goaltending, poor offensive depth, no cap space, I am pretty sure Nurse or another D like Larsson will be traded, except if the Oilers manage to dump Lucic and Sekera but their fans here do not want to pay that price to any team, soooo....

MTL has plenty of offensive depth you should be happy with the above proposal as an Oilers fan ;)

Gagner and Manning are both off the books before Nurse needs a raise, Russell and Sekera are off when RNH needs to be re-signed. We do not need to trade Nurse for a one dimensional winger that quits when the going gets tough and sulks when his coach demotes him and a young defenceman that isn’t ready for NHL duty and isn’t an upgrade on our own prospects.

You’re ignoring the fact that our AHL team was very good and there is help coming both offensively and defensively.

Wingers are much easier to find than 24 year old borderline top pairing defencemen. Chiarelli chose not to fill any of the gaping holes we have, I doubt Holland will be so foolish.

I was hyped about this thread serie, I was waiting for MTL turn... But this is just boring, can we stop talking about Puljijarvi

We can definitely get back on topic then.

What are some players that you feel that Montreal should be going after? Do you think the 15th OA is in play? Will Montreal be trading it? Will they make a big splash?

15OA is definitely in play. Could be packaged for a proven top 4 on the left side.

Habs would probably do it. Sounds like you have given up on Poolparty?

Not at all, but we need to get better and we need to do it now, we need to move a LD to make room for youth, and we need to clear cap. This does all of that.

I wouldn’t, no. We have some good young LHD coming but they’re not ready for top four work. Neither is Fleury. Blowing a hole in an already weak defence isn’t wise... And I don’t like how inconsistent Drouin’s work ethic is and am not really a fan of the player in general. All scorers are streaky but he stops trying when he gets cold.
Fleury is rd, you probably googled his brother

Hudon and Lekhonen are solid players. Better than most think. Hudon should turn into fine player.

You say you can easily bury Manning's caphit. Would you make same trade leaving Manning out?

Reason why he does give us depth but we looking for better LD.

Two proposals and then madness.

I wonder if there’s anything to be had around Gostisbehere and Drouin. Would the Flyers even be into Drouin?

Hudon is nothing special. He's not a solid player, he's a dime a dozen player that every team has one or two of.

He's at best a filler in a trade, nothing more.

Lehky though is a solid player. His intangibles alone make him an important part of this team.

He gets his scoring touch going and he becomes a key player that every team needs to win.

I feel Lehky will bounce back this year. Start the season with him, Domi and Shaw and see if that great chemistry is still there.

Now if he needs to be part of a trade to get a top 4 LHD than so be it, I pull the trade otherwise I have no problem having this kid on my top 9.

I wouldn’t. A million isn’t a lot of space but it is something. Or downgrade the pick to a 6th or something.

Trading for JP and Russell does not help the Habs at all. Its just unnecessary trading.

Habs need a puckmoving, productive LHD. Russell is not that.

With what we want to give, I think we need to forget the good top 3 LD we want. It will be more a good #4 if we are lucky.

I am pretty sure some pieces between Drouin, Tatar, Shaw, Byron, Lekhonen, Armia, 15th OA, 1st 2020, Suzuki... should be interesting for some teams (I truly believe Ekholm or Ghost could be ideal)

Not sure if this is overkill / underkill, but NYR fans bear with me:

Brady Skjei has had a couple disappointing seasons since hitting 42 points and is on a longterm 5.25M contract (5 more years). Habs need a top-4 LHD in his age category and may be willing to take him on and hope he rebounds. He skates really well and would fit the Habs system.

But to do so we would want to dump cap in return - Alzner. Alzner is a bad contract and there is no sugar coating it - it would cost us to dump him. So what i propose is this:

Skjei + Belesky (dump) to the Habs

Alzner (dump) + 1st (15th overall) + Juulsen + Byron/Lehkonen

Is it enough from the Habs given that Alzner is being dumped?
Alzner's contract really isn't hurting Montréal right now, so giving up good assets to dump it doesn't make sense.
