Sorry this is a tad late, totally slipped my mind!

:habs

Make a trade with your favorite team with this team that MAKES SENSE FOR BOTH SIDES. It can be 1 for 1, taking on a bad contract, flipping 7th rounders, whatever you deem is necessary to not only make your team better but the other one too. If it's a rebuilding/retooling side they obviously want something for the future.

Will give some guidelines that most Habs fans would agree upon

- Can take major cap hits if they have 1 or 2 years left.
- Positions of varying need to play in the NHL right now: LHD, RW, Powerplay specialist, Backup goaltender.
- Prospects: Anything but goaltender prospects.

Players probably not worth discussing unless giving up a piece that hurts:
Domi, Kotkaniemi, Suzuki, Poehling, Romanov, Gallagher, Price, Weber.

Pieces that are more available for the right deals.
(Listing in order of likeliness of availability, Hudon & Reilly would be super cheap. Weise has negative value)
Dale Weise, Joel Armia (RFA), Charles Hudon (RFA), Mike Reilly (RFA), Charlie Lindgren (Would need a replacement), Andrew Shaw, Jonathan Drouin, Paul Byron, Artturi Lehkonen (RFA)

Puljujarvi + 3rd + Manning

Lekhonen + Hudon’s RFA rights
Remind me why Habs would trade a great 3rd line winger for a bust, a cap dump and a 3rd round pick? Cause I doN,t see it.

Counter

Pulju
Manning

Vs

COnd 7th round pick : Pulju socres 25goals

No trading a young, and great 3rd liner for a cap dump and a bust.

That’s why we need to include Manning
Great, just double checking.

Every time I suggest Russell to Montreal a member of your community loses his **** and I didn’t feel like being screamed at for three pages today  but I would do that, yes.
It would definitely be a polarizing acquisition. If Russell and Manning had the same contract I'd prefer Russell, but the extra cap hit and year for Russell's contract make it not as valuable for the Canadiens. I'd prefer the original deal you proposed to the counter offer the Habs fan proposed.

I wouldn’t do Lehkonen for JP straight up. Manning with the 3rd is also a bust - just like JP and his broken hips.

Habs will re-sign Lehks longterm at a low salary and capitolize on his down season.

Probably not the best trade for EDM

New Rule, offers should not include Maata, Russell and Sekera unless a huge sweetener is included.

Puljujarvi just turned 21, and showed that he's a strong AHL player.
If the Habs had a prospect posting near PPG in his 18-20 year old seasons we wouldn't be calling him a bust.
Not being fair to Puljujarvi in this context. His NHL career has been great, but he's still not waiver eligible so he could spend a full year in the AHL next year with Poehling/Suzuki and regain the confidence he once lost. EDIT: I was incorrect on the waivers, this makes the deal noticeably harder to accept
He'd also have Otto Leskinen on the AHL team, (and Kotkaniemi/Armia on the NHL team) to help acclimatize himself to the Canadiens team.

Not necessarily saying the deal is fabulous either way, but just trying to bring some fairness to the discussions.

Prob not. But trading a good yougn 3rd liner for someone who hasn't been able to produce ANYTHIGN offensively next to McDavid and RNH is def not going to get better here.

Oh, and Pulju need to go thourgh waivers if we decide to send him to Laval, which makes it even worse.

From what I can tell, since he hasn't hit 160 games yet and is only entering his 4th year he won't need waivers for next year.

edit: I see now that since he played more than 11 games in his 18 year season he'd need waivers next year.
