The Predators only had 26 shots with minimal scoring opportunities. It wasn't like the Pens were hanging on for dear life. It was a bad game that should be corrected tomorrow.

Shot totals are/were slightly misleading. There was a lot of cycling going on without any shots or they were blocked. As someone else said, the Preds only put up 26 so it's not as earth shattering as the publicity.

Also, you can't expect the pens to duplicate that effort again.

Preds in 5. Can't win every game with 12 shots on net. See ya pit.

Tell that to the 1998 WSH team ;)

Series against OTT:
G1(Hm): W (4-2), shots: 23-38
G2(Hm): W (6-1), shots: 18-31
G3(Aw): L (3-4), shots: 17-34
G4(Aw): W (2-0), shots: 11-36
G5(Hm): W (3-0), shots: 21-29

End result: WSH won 4-1, 18-7 Goals, 90-168 shots (thats under 35 SF%)

Exactly. The Preds controlled a lot of the play but didn't exactly look "dangerous".

Rinne had a .636 sv%.

Preds have their own issues to worry about.

Pens will luck their way into winning just like they did against Washington. All hail our Crosby overlord. He can do no wrong. Crosby-bot is self-sustaining. All hail Crosby-bot.

Predators shouldn't have won Game 6 vs Anaheim, karma came back to them in Game 1 of Stanley Cup Finals.

People saying this is the worst game in Pens' playoff history never watched the series they had against the Flyers a few years ago.

I was going to mention that!

Fleury was in rare form. Bryzgalov, whose mistakes were humongous big early on, interestingly enough was mostly left IN by Lavalette---and by game 4 he started locking it down...Fleury not so much.

It was actually entertaining to watch because both goalies were horrible in that series, so there was mucho scoring.

It was kind of a standoff: Both coaches mostly kept their starting goalie in because the other team's goalie was just as bad!

It went like this:

PHI 4 PITT 3
PHI 8 PITT 5
PHI 8 PITT 4
PHI 3 PITT 10
PHI 2 PITT 3
PHI 5 PITT 1

That's right, in 6 games PHI scored 30 goals and
PITT scored 26

56 total goals in 6 games! (45 goals in just the first 4 games)

Now THAT was fun!

Why did the forwards stop shooting once they gained the zone? Sure the Preds weren't giving the best shooting angles but you can't go 37 minutes without a shot and expect to win. The Pens got away with one here thanks to Rinne.

This year's edition of the Pens are a bit guilty of looking for perfect chances and passing up merely good ones. Think that goes double when they find themselves against a big capable goaltender who'll end up everything on an angle but struggle a bit with moving side to side.

This year's edition of the Pens are also very guilty of getting a bit conservative when they've got a big lead. I don't think they get quite so perfectionist without that 3-0 lead. Although maybe the word I want is stupid.

Why is no one talking about this? All I hear is how they had five goals on 12 shots or how they went 37 minutes of play without a shot.

Sure, both things surprising for the defending champs ...BUT....

They won this game with the lowest shot total in playoff history.

As in what 100 years? And it happens in the final...to the home team defending champions....who score 5 goals?

Strange doesent begin to describe it.

No one is talking about it because that's not true. The Leafs had 6 shots against the Devils in 2000.

It supposedly the lowest amount of shots in a SC final game. Not any playoff game. Leafs' 6 obvs weren't in the final.

The Pens have definitely been struggling to get shots off at anywhere near the rate they did last postseason. They are worn down after playing such a great number of games in the past 2 seasons and missing their one of their biggest offensive catalysts in Letang. They're going to get a lot more ugly wins than they do pretty ones.

That being said, the 35+ minute shot drought was definitely remarkable to witness. That may never happen again in the league, lol.

Not getting a shot on goal for 37 minutes is not "Score effects."

lol, 12 shots and one legit goal. 37 minutes without a shot.

We'll see tonight.

If the same happens, we'll have the same kids saying "this is the only two times this will EVER happen".

Happens again ? "This is the only three times this will EVER happen".

You can't fix it.

Strange indeed. Something stinks and it's not the catfish. Eastern big cities sell TV and merchandise.

lol, ANA shouldn't have kept getting those 2 mph goals from Perry, from behind the goal line, that bounce off several butts.

That's the kind of thing that's laughable.

Which goal was the only one that was legit?
