ALOT of positives from that one.

Igor mostly looked very snappy. Liked his game alot. Just that third one shouldn’t have gotten away from him.

The lines looked great frankly. Kids started well but slowed down. They just need to get one and they’ll be back on track. Chytil specifically really needs that 20th goal. It’s weighing on him.

Really liked most of this game from everyone. It was dominant and kuemper was fantastic. Like I said after the last game really looking forward to this week games every other day they’re going to get into a rhythm.

The Rangers were completely dominating Washington through 2 but once we went up 4-1 the refs decided it was time to let everything against us go and call us for anything remotely resembling a penalty. That was a disgusting final 25ish minutes by the referees, complete joke.

Good news is Igor looks back to normal.

Kane had a ton of jump tonight, he's fitting well with Kreider and Trocheck.

The fourth line rules.

Caps getting 4 straight PP's means bad defensive coverage?

Not upgrading Ben Heartburn was a big mistake...

having him in because he's 6'5? didn't know we could stack shit that high
6 shots on goal against in a period was bad defense? Especially when the powerplay was 2-0 in their favor, including a 4v3?

They did upgrade Harpur. Lindgren went down doesn't mean they didn't. Unless you think they had magical extra cap to carry an 8th D?

defense continues to be a huge issue. I’m worried lindgren’s return won’t be enough. fundamentally we are a shitshow, and it just isn’t good enough against the best in the league.
we've tried describing our offensive system... can someone describe the defensive system? I don't think the players even know... It's a zone-man bastardization of sorts

The amount of hooking & interference that went uncalled on their side once we had the 3 goal lead was totally absurd.

we had cap space to upgrade Harpur by trading him for someone like Braun.

Did you watch the game? the coverage was bad mid 2nd on.

Was thinking this earlier today. But if the Top 9 struggles, would not touch that 4th line to move players off it, They have become more of a shutdown 3rd line that can score some goals. That will be huge for the playoffs.

I know everyone (including me) is underwhelmed with the finish in this game. They had the Caps on the ropes and couldnt finish them off the right way. No doubt this team needs to find the killer instinct. Its ok to dominate and run up the score. Its not only OK, its the only way.

But ill take some positives from this one, in bullet point form:

• Best start to a game in weeks
• We saw the potential in the first half of the game, and not just a glimpse. It was sustained. They have a tape to watch and now they know what they are capable of. Thats a big positive.
• The lines seem to fit. Gallant needs to stick with this. For a moment there you could see each forming an identity. Theyll need that in the playoffs.
• The Kid line looked better
• The 4th line was solid again. For the first time you really saw the depth this team has.
• Igor has looked more like himself. Regardless of the defensive lapses they need to clean up, hes been better and is gearing up.
• A regulation win at home
• Another PPG
• Kane is looking comfortable. 3-2-5 in his last 5 and a spin-o-rama thrown in.

The most positive thing is we saw a peak in play, they just need to continue it, consistently. They found a template they can fall back on and hopefully we see it again Thursday and into this weekend.

Good win, take the good stuff and apply it against the Pens who will be pissed off after losing a shit game to Montreal

Or you could just keep the 7th D who knows how you want to play rather than worrying about finding another moving part 7th D. Lindgren healthy means neither play.

And yes. I watched the game. Mid of the 2nd... when the Caps spent 25% of the rest of the game up a man? Might have something to do with "bad defense." But be pissed off about a game management close score asskicking. If you watched the game, even the broadcasters were talking about the Rangers being effectively locked into their spot. Meanwhile, they are playing teams either fighting for their last-gasp chance to make it in, or a team full of players playing for their NHL lives in an otherwise lost season.

They won, they looked utterly dominant until game management, and still a battery of you bitching like they are 10 points out and trying to scrap to get in.

A little bit of a calmer response but the officiating was horrendous and the offense in the first two periods looked good. The new lines are much much better.

I thought Mess had more insights than a typical Joe performance.
The problem was his delivery. I'm sure this is something totally out of his comfort zone, so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he's really struggling to get his point across succinctly.

His other issue is he's way too complimentary. The only time he pointed out a flaw tonight was when Kreider didn't drive the net on the 2 on 1.

5 points in 6 games for Kane while still trying to fit in. 4 points in his last 3.

Best part about Kane is his killer instinct. Sure, he's one of the best passers in the league but that guy wants the puck, demands the puck and he's not hesitating to shoot at all. Almost created another goal with one of his patented off the win spin-o-ramas in the second.

Lindgren is more than just Lindgren on this D if that makes any sense. He's like the glue that keeps it together and the most important piece of the puzzle (not the best Dman but makes the pairings work) . We'll get better .

I can picture the start of championship DVD now.. highlights from the last 5 games with a voiceover of all the analysts/players talking about the trades, how it's not working, the team is running out of time, etc as it slowly fades to black..

Then it cuts to a cartoon Mika ripping a one timer off a feed from Tarasenko while Thunderstruck cranks and the Big City Green crowd goes wild

“HOW COME WE DON’T HAVE ANOTHER TOP 6 FORWARD OR TOP 4 DEFENSEMEN ON THE BENCH?!?!”

Do you guys think The Hurricanes have another guy like Svechnikov sitting in the press box waiting for an injury like the one he just got?
I want an endless stream of fighters…like an evil kung fu movie army.

Except our fighters will always win!

The Rangers are going to need to score 5 every night to have a chance to make a run unless Igor's in God Mode again. This is alarming more than it is reassuring even with the talent on this roster.
Well Lindgren will be back, Mikkola won't be on the 1st pair, and Harpur will be watching instead of playing. I don't think people understand what a big difference this is going to make.
