JVR is going to get paid. And like Kessek, if a team can shelter his shitty defense; it should work out.

You could tell he was playing for a contract this year because he made a defensive play that one game.
I said before last Christmas JVR had engaged more physically already last season than all his other years combined.
Money matters.

Out in LA
Kane got $7M. JVR is getting $8M. Although JVR is a little older, he's scored more and teams are not scared off by his off-ice rep -- which is why there are 12 -- twelve -- teams looking at him. I don't think there were too many teams interested in Kane. Now that he's finally on a good team, Kane will turn out to be a better contract though.

Well "free" thirty goal guys don't grow on trees. I liked JVR during his time here but he's easily replaceable with the young guns, who will need to get paid themselves in a couple years.

Someone will give him 7+mil, and be satisfied but not ecstatic about his play.
Easily?

I guess all the leafs Young guns can score 30+ easily

I think the devils would be in on this because they are looking for goal scorers but then again my dark horse in this JVR race would have to be Colorado.

Barring signing Tavares, we'll miss his goals. Hes not replaceable by Kapanen or Johnsson.

From what it looks like as a third party fan I'm pretty sure Kapanen or Johnson just need to be competent defensively and hit 15-20 goals to compensate for JVR's 30-35 goals and absolutely horrid defensive effort. Seriously did that guy ever do anything within his blueline other than coast around and chew on his mouth guard? Babcock had to give him charmin soft minutes with Bozak to insulate them. Last time he played against tough opposition at evens he was a -33. Has a bunch of size, refuses to use it. Always been the book on him since his Philly days. Definitely a fantastic powerplay tipper though with beautiful hands in tight. Someone is going to end up giving way too much term and money for what will soon be, at best, a powerplay specialist winger that's a black hole defensively.

100% right on.

He'll be out of the league in 3 years.

Buyout candidate for sure if he signs for 6 years.

Good player. Great around the net - easiest option to put in-front of goalie for tips and the like.

Doesn't hustle, doesn't play defense, always leaves you wanting and expecting more, which generally ends in the playbase turning on him.

Whoever signs him will love him the first year, like him the second year, and be frustrated with him the third year.

If this hockey reporting thing doesn’t work out for him he’d be an excellent weatherman.

Tomorrow there will be weather. Weather.

Alright Dreger, when you have a specific number of teams interested in a popular free agent, please don't tell us. Stop telling us things that you hear behind the scenes in hockey.

We're good here, man. We're totally happy without insider info and with bad trade proposals alllllll offseason!

More a case the Leafs just need to rework their PP a bit
