OT: Look here! Now with prizes!

If Training Camp happened but there was no thread about it, did it really happen?

He is first in line to be called up if any injuries, right?

I would think so, but he can only be called up on emergency waivers if 2 defensemen are injured, correct? Trying to sneak Carrick through waivers later in the season is probably a bigger risk, as we've seen before with Carson.

What a disaster that was. Team is just now recovering from that crushing loss.
True. It took them several whole weeks to acquire an equally marginal defenseman in Derek Joslin. Luckily they were able to lock Joslin up.

The difference between Carson and Carrick is that Carson had actually been good in the NHL the year before over a decent stretch of games (54). Carrick has played two NHL games. Unless Carrick is absolutely dominating the AHL or has a great showing in the NHL, nobody is claiming him.

Carrick is at least a tier below where Carson was at the time. He's never been particularly good in the AHL. This whole hype over Carrick started because he's "gritty" and "physical" (ignoring the fact that he's been wildly underweight for much of his career and wasn't actually able to be effective physically--it's the effort that counts). and got tons of powerplay time and ice time to inflate his point totals on a shitty Checkers team because there were no better options. The Checkers improving significantly last year and Carrick's point totals falling off a cliff are directly related.

So...yes, 2 D would need to be injured for an emergency call-up?
