I'm the OP, and I stand by my original analysis -- nothing has changed. He's done a very remarkable and rare job in the AHL as an 18 year old. So far, his trajectory is higher than any Leaf, or current Leaf prospect.

Brennan did that in his D+3 season. Liljegren did it in his D+1 season. Their accomplishments at the same age aren't even close. Brennan was in the Q in his D+1 season, and not particularly dominating. Liljegren would likely be putting up 1.1-1.2 ppg+ if he were playing against that limited competition.

You do realize that lily played pro hockey in the SHL right? You can’t say omg brennan got so much better playing vs kids for 2 years when lily literally played at the highest level in europe as a draftee. Its foolish to let these numbers get to you, look at andrew nielsen for example. Points dont matter for lily, decision making does.

I think we may see a mid-december or early January call up, where he will make a Dermott like impression and make it extremely difficult to send back!

That the offensive poise of our teenage draft pick doesn’t need validation. Its complete shit that people think his production in his rookie year somehow casts judgement on his future. His ahl production is irrelevant, once he develops his decision making to an nhl level, he will be playing in the nhl. It has nothing to do with racking up assists in the ahl, if you don’t see that, then you just don’t get it

Let's not forget that pre-mono Liljegren was supposed to go #1 and was hyped to be Karlsson-lite. His ceiling is sky-high, but his floor is probably like be a top 6 PP specialist.
I don't remember him ever being higher than #2. Generally top 5.

I also remember seeing him ranked #1 very early on. Can't recall what list(s) it was though. I didnt think too hard about it though as he seemed like a lock for the top 5 and it seemed unlikely that we'd be drafting that high again. Was thrilled where we got him. It's incredibly difficult to get a legitimate blue chip defensive prospect after the top 5-10 picks.

Hard to argue this year hasn't gone exactly as hoped with his development. As well, all this playoff experience is invaluable, and may just quicken his path to the NHL. I'm still in the "cup of coffee" in the NHL next year would be fantastic, but am keeping an open mind in camp next year to see how close he really is....

Needs some more strength but his game seems like it's maturing. It will be interesting to see if Keefe (assuming he's still there) gives him more rope for his offensive creativity and more ice time.
It's awesome that he's been able to jump straight into the AHL at such a young age when he can learn so much and smart defensive play can be wired into him.

Well it does show a progression advance. He was always good offensively and it is no secret the emphasis to his development was to focus on D. The biggest knock on him was the smaller ice and learning to defend it. If his points are going up it is because the reins are being loosened and his confidence is growing. Not sure why you are so triggered
Even if he's great in camp I'd be shocked if he's with the big club before December at the earliest.
The Leafs have shown that they want players to show they are stars down in the AHL and too good for that league before being promoted. Witness Brown, Nylander, Kapanen, Johnsson, Dermott.
He would still have a lot to learn at the AHL level and there are a lot of challenges they can present him with like playing against the toughest competition, taking over offensively, etc.

Completely agree, my camp comment was really to see how close he is, I don't expect him to make the team.

In 44 regular season games and 19 playoff games Lilegren has scored 1 goal this season.
Since draft time there was some question marks as to how his goal scoring would progress and what level it would end at when he hits the show.
