He got the NTC. Had a feeling that would happen. Oh well. That's a win when you consider it was Matty Joseph we got him for. Welcome to the family Nick!
NTC doesn't kick in until 2026 though, which gives us a pretty big advantage IMO. We still have the option of trading him in the cup window, and we will know if the contract is good or bad long before that kicks in.

No Idea what you are looking at, but NTC is in effect next season.

I still love him too but we need money and 2 goals the other way wins us the Cup in 5. Like, the Sergachev thing I'll admit was a vendetta. Guy's rolling into year 6 making rookie mental errors. This bit about Killorn is that I think we need to keep changing the recipe and again, we need money. I don't want our scoring situation come playoff time to be "Palat-Point/Stamkos-Kucherov -we'll figure out the rest lol" like it was this year

I overstated issues on purpose only because it's not impossible this next Cup we try to win may be even harder than the one we just tried for. If that's the case I don't wanna take chances. I trust the team and management but this 3rd title is gonna be a biznatch to win. The East is a bloodbath dipped in napalm

Killorn had 8 goals and 17 points last post season, 13 goals and 27 points our 2 cup runs, you're talking like this is a yearly thing, it isn't and he only has 1 year left, I would gladly gamble on Killorn rebounding over taking a random shot at another sign/trade and getting Hagel'd again.

Tampa, FL.
So after this signing, Tampa has approximately 1.75 left in cap space. Moving McD will give them right around 8.5, with still needing to sign Palat, Rutta, and a 3LD. If Palat comes in around 4.75 and Rutta around 2, it would still give the team enough to find or trade for someone at 3LD in the ~1.5-1.75 range. Moving Killorn makes things a little easier, as then the team would have around 7 million left to replace him and add a 3LD.

He also lost his spot on the PP which bit into his points, and played the entire playoff with one-shoulder Cirelli. Killorn's never been a guy who's going to create his own chances. But when he's in a good offensive situation, he puts up numbers more often than he doesn't.

I think people are putting way too much weight on the last two months. I would bet on very few players in the league making 4.5m to out-produced Killorn on a playoff run.

I'm not saying we should necessarily give up for another player what we did for Hagel, but if getting "Hagel'd" means 2 more goals, +5 +/- differential, 2 fewer minor penalty minutes, and getting a much faster and younger skater...all while playing with a fractured foot and being cheap as shit for the next couple years, you're out of your damn mind if you wouldn't take that.

Yes, only a one year sample size to compare, but Killorn looks like a f***ing fossil out there.

If he wasn't coming off the best year of his career, I might not give him the benefit of the doubt. But I have a hard time believing a guy who put up 17 points in the 2nd cup run, followed by 25 goals and a career high in points, is now suddenly washed up based on one two month stretch. Much more inclined to believe he went cold. And I would bet on that guy a lot more willingly than an unknown from another team.

Ah, there is am NTC. That dampers the signing tbh. The term is way too long

Hopefully the 16 team list has some teams in bad spots or rebuilds by year 5 to make it easier to trade

If you take away his PP production, he has 17 pts in his last 66 playoff games. And his PP duties got demoted this postseason. So either you have faith he can go back to being a 1st unit PP specialist, or you don't....because that's where he was making his bread and butter. But otherwise, the guy is a regular season points getter who has struggled mightily in the playoffs recently both with 5 on 5 production and physicality. And he aint getting any younger or faster.

Honestly, I would bet more on an unknown with better attributes on paper than Killorn at this point. JBB has been right far more often than not, whether it's him, our system, or a combination of both.

Sens fan here. Happy for Paul. He was one of the two guys Bryan Murray got back for Jason Spezza in 2014 so it's nice to see him carve out a nice career and get a good stable contract. He had 23 points in 44 games between regular season and playoffs for TB ... in a few years when the cap rises significantly 3.15 will be nothing for a great defensive 3C.

Yeah, but I mean, we can play the game of 5v5 points all day, and Killorn will come out about as good as anybody else -- especially if you don't hold this past post-season against him. He obviously had a bad playoff run, scoring-wise, but if you look at the two playoff runs before that, you're looking at 14 ES points in 47 games. Which really isn't bad. I mean, he had more ES points than Steven Stamkos in 2021, at half the price.

And at the same time, on a fully healthy TB power play, the one that has given us the most success, Killorn is the guy behind the net.

I’m slightly wary at the term but I otherwise love it!
Dude is 27, after 4 years his NTC will convert and it will be possible to trade him (If needed) he will still be 31. So this 4 years NTC is great, and 7 years contract its just to secure him his money, I think its a great move by JBB both for Bolts and for player :)

Statistically, Killorn’s best playoff days were his first few postseasons. I think last year was more or less an outlier as far as “late stage Killorn” goes.

I’ve said it before, but I’d rather go younger and faster, and if that means taking a risk with the PP so be it.

Just a personal preference.
