Hajek is two years behind Masin. And Masin is 2 years behind Koekkoek - all three were born in February so its pretty easy to do the math. So with this in mind ... we could trade Coburn this off-season for a nice pick. Give Koekkoek the third pairing LHD job in 2018/19 & 2019/20. He gets to keep his LHD job for two years ... at which time we trade him for picks at the trade deadline right before he goes UFA . This would give way to Masin who can keep the job for two years and then give way to Hajek in basically the same manner we worked out with Koekkoek. We can basically keep each of them for 6 years at which time we trade them for picks while the others are RFA and cost effective.
Projecting forward .... unless they are better than Hedman / Sergachev this would put these prospects at:
2 full years in the AHL
1 year as cup of coffee but mainly AHL duty
1 year as 7th D in NHL
2 years as 6th D in NHL
Trade and Re-Load / Re-Cycle pipeline
Bet all three of them (Koekkoek / Masin / Hajek) become very nice second pairing equivalents for other organizations just as they become expensive UFAs.
Dotchin / Cernak / Foote follow a bit different time line and progression as we are not as stacked on the right side as we are on the left side. We'll have to see if we can really find long term top 4 upside in Cernak and Foote to keep them on long term contracts past their UFA years.
