Toronto paid a 1st and a 4th for Nick Foligno, who is the same age as Letang, and a vastly inferior player.
To be fair, he was like 32 going on 33 at the time of the deal, but still, it was a really bad trade, everyone agreed, especially given Foligno health issues.

You find a lot of GMs doing crazy stuff at the deadline, so I guess it's possible you'll find someone willing to give more than a late first for Letang.

It's not great value though.

Yes and Letang is better than Jones today.

How about I say the Ristolainen trade as an example then? The point is that it would cost an arm and a leg for Letang because top pair RD are insanely valuable.
Christ people are straight up stupid if they value Jones this low. jones is a top 5 norris contender. Just stop.

What will be the cost to get Letang? No salary retain.

with Weber on LTIR, Habs can take the full salary. Pens free up significant cap space in the process.
The cost would be more than Montreal would be willing to pay.
