Come on, I know most of you are thinking (dreaming) of it.

How about we dedicate a thread to Steven Stamkos (at the very least until he re-signs in Tampa).

Someone photoshop a Leafs jersey on him. Must not get hype!

you guys are going to be very, very sad, when Yzerman extends him.

Maybe Leafs overpay him like they did with Babcock.

There was nothing Detroit could do, maybe we put Tampa in the same position.

Dedicating a whole thread to him is so desperate and quite frankly, pathetic. There's no guarantee he even makes it all the way to UFA. How many good Ontario Boys and big name free agents have we hoped would come join us only for those hopes to be dashed?

We never had a great coach before who could potentially attract players here.

To be fair, Babcock said, if you build it they'll come, you can bet on it.

I don't think that is going to be Stamkos though.

If he was playing for Arizona, okay, I might see the temptation. However, Tampa Bay? You'd have to question his sanity. I think he stays put, and who can blame him?

We'll see. Dedicating a whole thread to him is still overkill though. We could at least wait until there are reports negotiations aren't going well or something like that in 2016.

I'd be surprised if he wasn't extended by August 1st this year. He's not coming, sorry.

And even if he was, $11M+ per? May hurt us down the road when we need depth to contend with. Most contenders have their homegrown talent locked up to steal contracts while we contend and have, for the most part, a purely homegrown core (exception - Hossa with the Hawks, but that's a cap circumvention contract), whose ELC's and RFA contracts are the reason they have the cap room to have tons of depth..

Oh don't get me wrong - I 100 percent agree with you. This is not a v. v. good idea. it's sad.

If the Lightning won a Cup, I think him testing free agency would be a legitimate possibility.

However with them as close as they are....don't think he leaves for the bottom of the barrel.

Why so serious?

Isn't dreaming (fantasizing) a part of being a fan?

Why can we not have a little bit of fun while we can?

People were saying the exact same thing about Babcock at this time last year.

He won't reach free agency.

I don't think he'll ever be the player he was before he broke his leg either.

Fabulous player, but I think the Leafs would be lucky not to pay in the future for what Stamkos was in the past. He'll be very, very good, but never as good as he was before.

There will be other players.

I really doubt it. Really do. Maybe his next contract. We'll have a great shot then.

Johnny T has maybe a real chance hopefully he just wants a change of scenery that would be a dream way to spend that Kessel/Phaneuf cap space :naughty:

It's not a possibility until it's a possibility. Just like Babcock. If his negotiations stall, be ready to pounce whether it be a trade or a contract. I think he can expect to parachute in here fall 2016 with some very serious young talent.

Nah, I think I'm on the John Tavares bandwagon.

#Tavares2018 #RebuildComplete

:yo::yo:

Exactly, if not Stamkos, on to Tavares. If we build a good team, one of them will come here soon.

Stamkos, Tavares, Seguin, Strome, etc..
