Because why not? Leon wore 4 different numbers during the course of the season, what number would you like to see him wear with the Oilers??

#36

A "non-roster" number, in that it's above 30, without any particular history behind it (unlike, say, #55, #77, etc).

Also, AFAIR, both Stoll and Horcoff had #36 as their first number, later graduating to highly useful NHL centermen, and a more meaningful #.

92, simply because it'd be awesome to eventually see the Oilers roll out 93 and 92 as their top two dominant C (hopefully...)

He's wearing 55 at rookie orientation camp for whatever that's worth.

29 is his number and I like it.

15 is a crap number and very few players, let alone Oilers, have been successful with that number.

I hate the high numbers like 71, so 29 it is.

I like 29.

Although I gotta admit, 71 looked good on him too. Kinda reminded me of a Malkin-lite watching him fly down the ice during the Worlds on a couple of shifts.

He also wore #19 in WJC-U18 in 2013.

Anyway, I guess it is #29. Both in WJC and WHC that number was taken by older players so that could be a reason why he didn't wear it.

As a U16/U18 junior in Germany he wore #29 though.

29 for sure. Would be weird seeing him with a different number. The number 29 is forever associated with Draisaitl for me pretty much.

I believe Todd Marchant also started as 36 before switching to 26 when he became a regular.
