I think LeBreton is a terrible place for a hockey arena, and a hockey arena is a terrible use for that land. So reject 'em both, NCC.

This is what the CTC was supposed to be....

Things change.

In fairness it was the OMB that cut the legs off the development of the CTC mini village...limiting what they could build. Firestone wanted to build something similar to lansdowne

...which in hindsight, if the sens move to LF could have been a blessing in disguise!

Not sure Melnyk is doing anything to promote National space development on the radio. All he's saying is hey here's a rink! Oh we have a bunch of other stuff as well, but here's a rink!

Good thing both proposals have a lot more than an arena then!

His involvement in the project is likely limited to the arena, he might as well stick to what he knows.

Both of these proposals desperately need a CASINO.

Look for one to be in the final bid.

I think that although the brewseum, car museum, and aquarium don't necessarily have a lot to do with Ottawa, they are all thing that non-sports fans can enjoy and might put Devcore's bid ahead

One reason how i can see Devcores bid failing is that they are building an NHL arena when they currently have no NHL team to put in it.

While i would love for Melnyk to sell the team, i doubt he does unfortunately.

Very good point obviously. The bids are reasonably similar yet Melnyk's costs way less and he already owns the team

you don't become a rich man by being stupid, right?

He wouldn't say it for multiple reasons (see the Senschirp article), but of course he's open to selling the team for the right price.

If as a bidder he makes it seem like a major tenant could be sold before the shovel hits the ground at LF how much confidence will those in charge of choosing which bid to go for have in the group?

Casino business is brutal these days - even the casinos in Vegas were losing money last year. Casinos away from Vegas were hurting even worse, as Atlantic City is a total flop. I'm not sure why Melnyk thought that somehow his casino would be exempt from all that. Thank God he appears to have moved on...

People have been wanting a aquarium for years so yes i think that will give them a huge boost.

God that huge car museum place a terrible or what... There is just not enough draw for a place like it here. Period.
I would rather prefer boring residential-heavy grid-like Melnyk landscape than that.
Although the idea of the beach on that canal in Devcore bid, I like.

I would not be to sure there would not be enough of a draw.

Kind of like the non sens proposal more. Has stuff I like. Cars, Beer and Fishies :)

Whoever wins, Melnyk at the end wins and maybe us sens fans.

He wins the bid, the team moves, generate more revenue and would be able to ice a better team.
He loses, he gets pressured to sell the team and makes a killing off it. We win, we get a new owner with deep pockets.
