This points total record is a little misleading, the Leafs have 7 shoot out wins and 7 more points that were impossible to get before 2005, so really the 2004 is still the record for most points.
What is the point here?
The internet- a great interactive tool to split hairs.
I heard this same point from an Oilers fan (they can't bare to reflect on their piece of **** team, and have to focus on the leafs' reg. season record). It sounds like the hair-splitting fact of 7 shootout wins is out there in the general hockey media. If anyone can remember the ******** 2004 season, we got knocked out in the second round by the flyers. There is no f***** reason to be proud of that record for wins when we probably should have been better. We should have gone further. No one even remembers the hiring of JFJ and the submarine job they did on Pat Quinn. No! We got the ********* franchise record for ********* wins!!!
Give me a ******** break!
The leafs need to now show big in the playoffs! Who cares about the regular season record! Does the Leafs Purist Regular Season Faith Protectors Club really want to compare the two seasons and the two teams!?!! The 2004 record is a ******** symbol for some of the darkest times in team history. Even the Ballard years don't compare.
