That was the Leafs best game of the season along with the Nashville game.
Things started off rough, but once Phaneuf laid out Perry and we scored on that PP, the game turned around. Then when Phaneuf tied it and killed that 5-on-3, I knew we were going to win.
The defense played pretty well tonight, outside of Franson. Franson has been shaky lately, not liking how inconsistent he's been. Ranger had his best game of the season imo, Rielly was decent and did what he could to try and cover for Franson, Gunnar was good, Gardiner was great and Phaneuf was the best player on the ice.
Our possession game was good, we actually matched up well with Anaheim, who is the 6th best team in the league in both Fenwick and Corsi.
The biggest difference tonight was the effort level. Leafs were skating hard, hitting hard and using their speed and physicality to their advantage. This is what we've wanted to see all season. Was also nice to see the top line clicking.
