Well, once they sign Dermott this completely fills up the left side. What are we trading Sandin for?

Just had to come by to see if anyone would overreact. This is a signing with no downside.

- He's signed to be a #7/#8 for us.
- He is better than most in that bracket.
- He is absolutely fine playing that role.
- It's a league-minimum contract so even if he isn't ever needed, it doesn't hurt us in any way.

How anyone can wish Marv gone is beyond me. He takes up space and can skate reasonably well. I genuinely see incremental improvements each year in terms of positioning and assertiveness. It's literally league minimum.

Real question: who lasts longer as a Leaf - Rielly or Marincin?

He needs to go true waivers aint he? But thats the beauty, no one will claim him, can go up and down as they want!

Solid signing. Fills a hole with one of the better depth guys out there for 700k.

His underlying numbers are somehow always pretty impressive.

wondering if there's anything to read into here, maybe Muzzin isn't in the plans? Rielly-Dermott-Sandin/Marincin?

might also mean nothing

Look guys, and people will disagree with me on this. Marincin is a fine #7 depth D man, but this better not mean they feel he will be a regular for them. If it does, I am going to snap.

Would have preferred they moved on and see if they could find someone to overachieve at that price.

I'm not really bothered by it. More like "doesn't Dubas have more pressing priorities than extending Marincin?" I'm sure it didn't take up too much time but...do we really need to focus on Marincin right now?

Oh well. It's done and the era of Marincin continues. He will be a career Leaf, I have no doubt about it.

The only thing I can think of is meeting requirements for players to expose in the Seattle draft next year?
