connor brown is not a b- a C at best he has been invisible for more games than he has been good

Hainsey is a bit low easily a A- at worst he has been really good

Kadri similar to Brown has been well under standard for more than he has been himself

I'll admit I'm a bit bias, but if this is supposed to be relative to expectations, I don't know how Borgman gets a C+. He's a rookie who transitioned from the SHL to the NHL directly and, though he is not without his mistakes, I don't know what more you can really expect from him. My 2 cents.

He is a b-, Polak above him is a c+

edit: damn it I was using Dark Knight's list I though he reposted the actual list my bad

Absolutely. Like, I don't think he's in 'A' territory by any means, but when Gardiner gets a C after going from being super dominant in the playoffs to a virtual liability through 41... he should at least be ~B.

Anyway, I'm being needlessly nitpicky about something that's meaningless, just thought i'd put it out there.

Edit: Sorry, misunderstood your post initially. I'm referring to Hornby's article. Darkknight's rankings are more in line with my thinking.

IMO Komarov should be a D. Biggest disappointment on the team.

Bozak I would say C-.

Everything else I can agree with.

Interesting that with our balanced scoring, rolling 4 lines philosophy and results that all Centers except Matthews earned the same B- (Kadri, Bozak and Moore).

Highest rated wingers? Hyman and Marleau tied with a B

Agree, with the exception of his PK play which has been really good so I factor that in. Bozak is really looking "meh" in every department, he's clearly on the decline.

Lance Hornby has an article grading the Leafs to date: Who is top of class? Grading the Maple Leafs at season’s halfway point

Pretty fair overall, mine would be:

Andersen: A-
McElhinney: B
Hainsey: B+
Reilly: A
Zaitsev: B
Gardiner: C-
Polak: C+
Borgman: B-
Carrick: C-
Matthews: A
Marleau: B-
Kadri: B
Hyman: B
Nylander: B-
Marner: B
Komarov: C
Bozak: C
JVR: B
Brown: B-
Martin: C
Moore: C-
Leivo: B
Babcock: B

Until Toronto puts a couple of wins together they all get a F.

Agree with the Brown ranking.
He's been extremely underwhelming imo.

Agree with the Brown ranking.
He's been extremely underwhelming imo.

I don't get how he could possibly be rated higher than Nylander, he is on pace for 32 points and his defensive "prowess" is quite overstated. Yeah on pace for 20 goals, but that doesn't make him a better player than nylander has been

Grading based on my expectation for this season for each player. For example based on their play at the WC, I expected more from Nylander and Marner. Also expected Z to play better with a year of NHL experience under his belt. Those in bolded text have exceeded my expectations.

JVR B-Bozak DMarner B-
Marleau BKadri BLeo D
Martin C+Moore C-Brown C
Rielly A-Hainsey A-

Biggest disappointment so far for me is Gardiner, he looks lost out there, mindless passes up the boards, where he rushes now I just expect nothing to come of it.
