How was Peeke?
Looked solid imo…….

Out shot, out chanced, 4th worst xGF% on his team, and his pairing had the worst xGF% as well, I understand why they healthy scratch him a lot... he's not a good D.

He's big though and was thought of as good at some point though, so I am sure some people still want him.

We are collecting 3rd pairing Ds... what is one more?
Only D man on the Leafs that isn’t a 3rd pairing guy is Morgan…….

What an exciting 3rd period that would have been to witness in person… talk about a swing in emotions.

Matthews was just incredible… and seriously, he doesn’t get a chance to score that goal without the hard work of John Tavares.

Just looked up the Goals by strength the last few years

Leafs at 6 on 5, (doesn't count any 6 on 4 GF/GA)

2023-24: 7 goals for, 1 goal against
2022-23: 4 goals for, 10 goals against
2021-22: 4 goals for, 10 goals against (not a type exact the same)

Crazy how much of an outlier this is

This is a main factor in Leaf's success so far this season. They have rescued a lot of points for themselves 6 on 5.

I wonder how much of this is a result of playing from behind vs. ahead. Feels like we've scored on a few delayed penalties too

That's stuff that can be taught, I think he has less than 100 games under his belt. You look at guys like Lilly, he will never drive O the way Timmins does and Lilly is at the same level as Timmins in terms of defensive awareness. We dont have a lot of D-Men who play D well.
I was at the coaches camp at scotiabank arena last month.
Believe it or not, this topic came up - contrary to your belief, they don't teach basic positional functions at the NHL level - you're expected to know how to perform when you reach the NHL.

Well placed, but not a good shot?

Alrighty then...
Okay. I will give in to you on this.

Johnson's shot was a laser of a shot that would burn through every NHL goalie from the present, past, and future. It was NOT stoppable by any means possible. Even the most technically sound goalies would have NO CHANCE !!!

??what?? Do you only remember post-lockout Belfour? He was great before then, it's not his fault he couldn't keep up his play at age 40.
Thats what I meant

Belfour was awesome for us and he's the last REAL goalie we've ever had on this team.

Every single goalie since him has been a big bust

How would everyone rate the pre-game national anthem? Good, Bad, Cringe, Kathleen Kennedy?
Doesn't matter who's singing it it's the worst part of the entire broadcast
