I don't think that the Leafs played a bad game at all and I actually thought they were the better team for a majority of the game. The thing that got them was their own self-inflicted mistakes.

Goal 1 - Bad Rielly turnover
Goal 2 - Andersen can't play the puck in the restricted area
Goal 3 - Bad turnover in the neutral zone + Gardiner changing = no defense on the shortened power play

Nice to see some sanity among all the lemmings charging towards the cliff. Rielly's turnover was terrible, almost never see that happen. We fought back to tie it up and it was looking like a very exciting game and then that PP happened that was unbelievably bad and then that 4th happened and we were toast. On balance though I thought it was a pretty even game, we had a ton of excellent pressure but just couldn't finish but this game could have easily gone either way. CLB is a really good team too playing at home, let's not forget that we were underdogs in this one anyway. The Carolina game was awful, this one wasn't bad at all IMHO.

Let's snap out of it tonight and "welcome" JVR back in style! GLG!!

All our guys up for hardware this year had their moments. Don't forget they're up for hardware for a reason.

Lol at Leaf fans worrying about Buffalo. They suck, so everyone relax.

Yes, they have won 8 straight, but 7 of those 8 wins have been by 1 goal, including 3 in OT and 2 SO, lmao. The law of averages will soon catch up to them.

Its like posters here are itching to go after individuals and team after every lil losing streak.
Where were you guys when the same players did a western sweep?
Just relax and trust the team more, thankfully and finally the management isn't as fickle with their decision making as our emotions here.
BINGO!

Every team is going to have losing streaks during the course of an 82 game season. We'll reel off 5 or 6 straight wins and everything will be forgotten. Everyone has short memories around here. The good part about last night's game is that the Leafs actually played pretty well and gave a good effort. With the exception of 3 or 4 players, most of the team played well.

It's patently obvious to the entire NHL how to beat the very talented Leafs. Some teams can't execute it but better teams can.
Yup. Slow them down by taking away their time and space. Hit them early and often.

That said taking away time and space is mainly done via obstruction, which used to be a penalty but for some reason teams are getting away with it this year. Probably something to do with Bettman's "parity".

There are some games where the losing team played better than the winning team and this was one of them.

6 of those 8 wins included 3rd period come from behind tallies. That's not quite the sign of suck you're trying to paint. Its a bit more than "luck" and we shouldn't take it lightly

Our Leafs played well last night with the exception of a few mistakes. Unfortunately, the Jackets scored on every hiccup we made and even got bounces at both ends of the ice.

Our Leafs didn't seem to get many lucky bounces in their favor. But still, they played well.

Trust me they suck and won't make the playoffs - Of course they came from behind, not because they are any good, but because teams have taken them too lightly so far. Once teams adjust, the Sabres are done.

They’re best player is shooting half of his career average.

That's fine and dandy as both of his linemates are shooting double their career averages. Skinner is literally shooting over 22% right now for God sakes.

Gramps here. No worries Leafs were the better team last night and lost. The Jackets were better earlier in week and lost. The hockey gods gave Jackets the win. Hockey is a funny game like that sometimes. Rielly will not make those house league mistakes again. It has been a very long time since Rielly gave up 3 goals like that in a game. He probably thinks he is a Norris guy now and maybe a little went to his head and he gambled badly a couple times and made a weak clearing pass another time boom 3 goals. But even Orr had a bad game once in a while folks. Go Leafs Go!

Just because we've won doesn't mean we've aalways played well. Do you seriously have no qualms with our current play?

You're expecting perfection, which is not realistic...this is a capped league with alot of parity...sometimes you win dominating, sometimes you win games you don't deserve, other times you lose when you should win...it's an 82 game regular season...we're 15-8 without Nylander for the entire time and without Matthews for most of those games.

I still don't get it...folks argue as if it's a one-way street...you're always playing against another NHL TEAM who also wants to and plays to win, and scouts your team and lay plans in to try to beat you...it's life and sports, it's dynamic and ever changing, not static...you can't win every game or play well in every game in the microcosm of things...the goal is to continue to improve and be as consistent as you can going into the playoffs...it's still early in the season...folks are expecting perfection every game as if they are facing a peewee team on the other side every game.

I predict the month of December will not be good for the Sabres.

To paraphrase Torts, sometime the other team just play like Peewees.
