What would the cost be for Brodin?
I have no idea. The Muzzin trade's been used as a comparable, though Brodin's younger and (in my opinion) better so I'd hope that's more of a floor. When Carolina was rumored to be sniffing around a lot of the discussion revolved around one of their 1sts and/or Suzuki.

Personally I don't see a great need for a futures package, though. It makes sense to move him if we can get a similarly aged 2C back, but if not? There's little reason to trade him.

Leafs would want to trade Dermott +Kapanen and the wild would want Nylander or Sandin.

Either way won't happen. I don't see the Wild moving him for a package involving Kapanen, he's not valuable enough (Kapanen)

I would've liked to keep Kadri for a piece like this, but alas.

What is his injury history? Why has he missed so many games?
Even healthy players - when they come to Toronto, they become injury prone. :(
Many red flags here for me.

I'd have to go back and look but I think it's mostly been getting hit with pucks. Nothing that's had lingering effects or indicated a chronic issue.

Brodin missed some games last few seasons because of hand issues (broken fingers and hand surgery).

The pieces Toronto would make available wouldn't land Dumba. Glad Dubas is inquiring about possible RHD tragets though.

There would be a lot of teams looking at Dumba if he were available. I think they should keep him for at least 1 more year because the way he was playing prior to his injury Minnesota was getting excellent value for their money. They could use a few guys outplaying their cap hits.

I can already tell how this thread is going to go. Leafs fans are going to offer their standard offer for every player (usually including Johnsson, Kapapen, Bracco and 2nd round picks), Wild fans will say they want Nylander and Leafs fans will say "we're not giving up Nylander for someone having a bad year". It will just go in circles like that until this thread gets locked.

If Nylander was comfortable as a center in the NHL and Dumba wasn't having a bad year, I think Dumba for Nylander would make sense. That's about all I see as making sense, though.

Hah! Someone beat you to it

If I'm the Wild, I look at my 50 contracts and see a lot of potential on the wings but very little in the way of young top potential on the back line and center. If they are going to move out a 25 year old puck moving RHD (Dumba), I can't imagine a scenario where they don't ask for 1st round pick and high end C or D prospects. As for Brodin, he's a little older and has less offensive potential but he is still a valuable piece for any team so I would expect a similar return to the Muzzin trade - a 1st (or equivalent prospect) and a B/B+ prospect (or equivalent pick). With no first this year, the only pieces I see the Wild being interested in are Sandin/Liljegren/2021 1st rounder or a Nylander level roster player. If those pieces are off the table, I would think the Wild would be able to find another team with pieces they like. Dermott may be of some interest, but since he would be a clear down grade from either Dumba or Brodin, I would think Dermott would be the add, not the main piece Minnesota is looking for.

Missing 1 and 6 games is hardly an issue, so it's basically more than half of last season and that's it. That's probably 1 big injury

Soucy's a little older and we're working with a relatively small sample size, but from what I've seen I'm not convinced he's a worse player than Dermott. I really don't think there'd be much interest.

These teams are almost singularly bad trade partners.
