It was a head-scratcher when he was drafted in the first round (I believe the consensus was he had 3rd-line center upside; Good size but won't bring anything offensively) and unfortunately was never able to prove the critics wrong.

That is typical for players 20-40. Thry are grnerally 3rd liners as in checkers or secondary scoring lines with boom/bust potential.

I don’t think he was a reach when he got picked or Toronto pulled a Columbus thus year.

I love Freddy and he's had every opportunity but I just don't think he has it in him.

No snarl.

Someone needs to kick him in the balls once in a while to make him one miserable son of a bitch on the ice. His career depends on it.

McCarron may never have panned out but he'd have run over Gauthier. McCarron was never scared to drop 'em and it got him injured.

Gauthier is at least an NHL warm body. Mccarron isnt even that

its great to be able to throw a hit, but you have to be able to play hockey as well.

Montreal should sign him for cheap. I always thought he would play a bit better for them. He seemed like a fun guy but even when he was drafted by the Leafs there was this apathetic reaction that seemed to extend to his on ice play. Find a place where he fits in and you’ve got some gold cuz honestly, the only thing holding him back from being a quality fourth liner and pk specialist is his utter lack of intensity.

if there's no room for him on the Leafs' bottom six, there's not going to be any room on ours
