The Wings were looking hard at Gaithersburg in his draft year. Went with Mantha instead.

I remember when Mirco Mueller made the NHL at a young age and everyone talked about him being a future top 4D for sure. Shows just how important developing players is and to not overvalue prospects so much.

He’s a fine 13th forward at league minimum. I’m assuming the Leafs just didn’t want to risk his arbitration award going above what they could bury in the A.

A beauty of a personality, terrible hockey player. Decent on the draws but thats pretty much his only redeeming quality. Probably the biggest gentle giant in the game.

Not unexpected from Leafs fans. Gauthier is a big fluff ball. Nothing wrong with him, I guess. Just frustrating to watch a big guy who does nothing with his size.

I don't hate the guy, as a player. But he won't be missed.

That's his biggest flaw. Even if the offense isn't there, he's just not defensively strong enough or physical enough to add much quality to the 4th line. He's basically a faceoff specialist who adds very, very little after the puck is dropped.

I liked goat, it seemed personally more than anything...even though I didnt know the guy.
Seemed like feel good guy, but hes not suited for the grind of the NHL. Heck I dont even think hes a solid 2nd or 3rd liner in the AHL.

He is a 4th liner, no matter the league he is in.

It's more to do with his QO being higher than his actual value rn. For bottom 6 guys, especially on Toronto, every dollar counts. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the blue and white after a small paycut

More intrigued by Bracco, tbh.

Dime a dozen prospect. Some NHL team will sign him, he'll play 5 games, then be sent down and sign in Europe the next season. Wasn't impressed by him in the NHL when I watched the Marlies... Sandin on the other hand. Yeah, I can see the hype in him.

Montreal should sign him for cheap. I always thought he would play a bit better for them. He seemed like a fun guy but even when he was drafted by the Leafs there was this apathetic reaction that seemed to extend to his on ice play. Find a place where he fits in and you’ve got some gold cuz honestly, the only thing holding him back from being a quality fourth liner and pk specialist is his utter lack of intensity.
