Agree almost 100%, though I'd say the vaccine still does its job in "limiting" major issues. However, it hasn't done what the MSM spewed it would when pushing the vaccine during its infancy, and that's where the issue lies for many. They were promised that if they got double vaxxed, life would go back to normal for them, it hasn't.

Agreed. People need to take stance and demand we live normal again. f*** passports f*** mandates f*** closing peoples business. Enough.

Still cancelled. Vaccines haven’t done its job.

It’s becoming more clear by the day.

People need to live life and move on. Enough already

Issue remains the hospitalization of unvaccinated.

That's why Ontario and Quebec don't want hospital staff who are sick to take time off.

Hospitalization and ICU admissions remain low despite record cases. Currently only 25% of the amount of ICU admissions Ontario had in April of this year and if trends from UK and SA hold up, who are weeks ahead of Canada in regards to Omicron, it will continue to decline.

So a temporary pause isn't a big deal is it?

And there are restrictions in the UK.

From a week ago numbers are what70% higher?

You’re on a hockey forum. The world juniors and Olympics were just essentially cancelled due to Covid when we’re two years into this thing. Not sure what you are expecting.

Disappointed about the cancellations? Fine.

Crap like this little temper tantrum?.....We already are vaccinated. Among the highest rates in the world in this country and we’re still living in a dystopian sh*t hole and have a segregated society all while we have record case counts.

Between this and the NHL delays - just a complete joke. Tired of being governed by the incompetent. Time to get back to normal. Not this new normal garbage most of us have to deal with on the daily.

I'm personally sick of listening to how inconvenienced people are because they can't watch what the want on TV.

Again, you’re on a hockey forum. It’s more than just entertainment for a lot of people. It’s a hobby, and big events like the Olympics and world juniors are traditions that people value. To have those events cancelled needlessly is frustrating to say the least. It’s also frustrating to see Toronto turn into one of the least attractive free agent destinations in North America.

As a young person, why would you want to be in southern Ontario when you could be in southern Florida right now? That’s what’s so frustrating. Already difficult to compete with our higher tax rates.
No alligators for one... LOL! I'd probably get drunk at a party pass out and be alligator dinner.

You sound like someone who hasn’t lost their paycheque to restrictions. Consider yourself lucky

The entire performing arts industry in this country just got a fatal pick-axe in the back. Heaven forbid someone complain about it though, that would be a real problem.

The cancelling of complete games because of individuals testing positive was ludicrous.
If a player tested positive, quarantine him and move on.
Reality is right now with Omicron is almost everyone will get it, vaccinated or not, and virtually no one will get seriously sick.
We have to move on as a society and accept we have a new common cold ffs.

Hospitalization is on the decline. If the government was so concerned about hospital beds they would’ve increased staffing in the last two years instead of firing people. Firing the “unvaxxed” staff most of whom already had natural immunity was an idiot move.

This hf is an awesome opportunity to rip the government: municipal, provincial, federal, socialism, etc.

I can understand the disappointment, but does no one remember the pandemic we just went through. I know several people who have lost loved ones because of covid. I doubt they are ranting about the cancelation of a hockey tournament.

People are lost in car accidents but we don’t ban automobiles. We can’t live in a lockdown bubble forever. Life must go on.

People who are at risk in care homes can be protected while working age people continue to work. These things are not mutually exclusive.

Maybe, just maybe, there are people that desire to play in an area where others seem to give a shit about others more than their "right" to not look past their own nose.

But, I will admit I am disappointed the WJC was cancelled and hope they are able to reschedule it as has been suggested.

Lost one, kept one......yes I consider myself very lucky. Also appreciate the fact that the gov't stepped up with some relief for the lost pay cheque.

Back on topic, what are the chances they reschedule this tournament? Seems to be rumblings to that effect.

Yes, we care so deeply of others in this country… which is why we fired unvaccinated workers while withholding their EI, segregated society as political punishment, shut down schools, closed/restricted small businesses, decreased healthcare capacity, avoided early treatment options, etc. all while there are skyrocketing youth suicide rates, overdoses, and missed cancer screenings…

Those dangerous Floridians living their normal lives uninterrupted and enjoying the weather while promoting the right to choose and encouraging active/healthy lifestyles and life saving early treatments… how could young hockey players find any of that appealing?

:sarcasm:

Even for a diehard leafs fan born and raised in southern Ontario. If you’re a 27 year old UFA and receive equal offers to play in Toronto or Tampa/Sunrise Florida…. Why the heck would you pick Toronto right now? It’s a serious question, not one answered by some generalized statement implying we care more deeply about others.

I've been asking that question for years, never mind right now. Not just Florida either, any place where the climate and decent fanbase exist.

If Canada continues on this path, good luck to Dubas trying to re-sign guys like Matthews when they can play somewhere without the mandates/restrictions, with better weather, and make more money.

Lol at people who think that better weather/low tax, and wearing sandals / shorts everywhere is some kind of blissful existence.
