He's a 22 year old who played 4 pro seasons in the 3rd best league in the world, and was named the league's best defensemen last year. He started in the AHL, largely to adjust to rink size... while there... he dominated. He did not look out of place in Buffalo. He was a difference maker... although the sample size is small, Pilut was at nearly a 70% ES GF%.

He was paired with Ristolainen in a top 4 role. They looked made for each other.
Over some kid named Dahlin who is pretty good.

Sabres fans are prett high on Pilut right now, and rightfully so.

He stepped right into the AHL and excelled. He had 22 points in his 16 AHL games played this season, which was good for the scoring lead (at the time), among both F and D.

Then got called up to Buffalo and stepped right into a top 4 spot, playing about 19mins in his first game. He was up to almost 23 minutes by his 4th game and looked pretty damn good playing those minutes.

As of now I think most Buffalo fans want to hang onto Pilut and see what he turns into. Unless an offer was just too good to refuse, as is usually the case.

I wish I could see a Dahlin/Pilut duo, holy cow that would be strong.

Can't believe Buffalo escaped the obligatory Alzner and a 2nd addition found in most Montreal proposals.

I mean Pilut is the real deal from what we saw, I wouldn't understand any other team who doesn't want him.

but, Mtl has the #2c you are looking for, but too young ( suzuki or Poehling)

I don't even know anything about this kid (Pilut) before the beginning of the year. When I saw him play, I was like wow, this kid can play. There would be a ton of hype going on about him if it wasnt for Buffalo drafting Dahlin. That Pilut kid has game, and so far, he plays like a veteran. He plays with so much confidence and doesn't get rattled. Buffalo found a gem in that pick up.
