What does Mtl or Buf say ?
Mtl fills the need for a young LHD who just arrived on the market ( he is also injured), and Buffalo fill the needs for a good C who just arrived from the NCAA and you was a steal in the draft

Both of Jake and Lawrence weren't seen so good already, thus the reason for my proposal.
Do Mtl add ? I'm not sure on the Value of Pilut from Buffalo pov.

:habs
- Jake Evans (22 years old C)

:sabres
- Lawrence Pilut (22 years old LHD)

I'd prefer to hold onto Pilut a little longer. He was doing great in the AHL and played what, 2 NHL games so far?

Pilut has been a solid add in limited nhl time and a great add in the AHL. He's in the process of emerging as a solid middle pairing guy that checks almost all the boxes you want checked. From a Buffalo perspective that'll be a tough ask to get him. On top of that the Sabres are pretty beat up on the blueline right now.

Pilut will stabilize our top 4 this year. He had a great impact on Ristolainen and has great character.
I don’t see why we would trade him?

Pilut looked tremendous in preseason, then in the AHL, the in the couple games he played with the big club. Buffalo couldn't trade him now. There's way to much game and potential there.

Was just asking, I see your LHD being your strongest suit, and you needing of a young C prospect to fill a 3c role next year. Ceilling of a 2c.
I liked what I saw of Pilut and would be our perfect piece for a low cost/high rewards LHD.

I would have put Poehling as your mian piece but it would need pilut +

Know nothing about Evans but Pilut has really turned heads. Not interested in moving him unless I’m solidly addressing 2nd line needs in the Sabres.

The Sabres should find a way to get Pilut into the rotation. It's tough to fix what ain't exactly broke, maybe. They are doing well as it is. But watch out... with Ristolainen and Dahlin, with Pilut and Guhle coming, Bogosian and Scandella still under contract for another year... they are heading in the right direction on D for sure.

Scandella has done well this year--probably playing with injury.

next year Buffalo has under contract Ristolainen, dahlin, Scandella, Bogosian Nelson, Hunwick. McCabe and Beaulieu are RFAs and then Pilut and Guhle are on ELCs along with Borgen and others.

in 2020 Hunwick, Scandella, Nelson, and Bogosian are UFAs with Guhle a waiver eligible RFA, Pilut an RFA, and Borgen on an ELC

My feeling is Pilut plays next season then one of Beaulieu/Scandella is traded in the offseason.

Pilut might be the Sabres top prospect at this rate, he’s not untouchable but sure as hell isnt going for Jake Evans.

Buffalo does NOT need young centers. They feel they are looking for a short term experienced center this season and next season 2C player who would then be a 3C in 20/21.

They do not want anchors or older 30+ players.

figure by 2020 Mittlestadt would be a 2C and then they have Asplund who is in his first ELC center being a suture 3C . They also have other prospects in their system as well.

2c might be a stretch but there is Danault in Mtl, but Jake evans is more that player you are looking for.

Value of the two individual players aside, Buffalo has had a number of injuries on D. I suspect that they won't be in a position where they can afford to trade any D.

I agree with you, same as the Ducks, you have a good list of 4-5 player on your LHD side, In an ideal world Guhle or Pilut would be traded for a similar Center talent wise. Dahlin/Scandella/ one of Guhle or Pilut, and Beaulieu traded for a bunch of useless pieces like we did.
