We need Evans more right now but Pilut has much more upside.

how do we need evans more now ? I'm high on evans because he was a steal and since 3 years he keep getting amazinly better. Hell the kid just came back from 2 INJURIES and he is playing better than before.

Same thing can be said for Pilut, they are similar in the sense that both of them keep getting better and better and both of them were a steal.

Now, my trade is mostly due to a force and a weakness in both Center and LHD for each team.
Montreal is weak on the LHD but has now a strong Centers pool ( like we have NO top 4 LHD in our farm system... it's really bad, Romanov can be a top 4, but is ultra Defensive and physical, kinda like Emelin )

I agree with you, same as the Ducks, you have a good list of 4-5 player on your LHD side, In an ideal world Guhle or Pilut would be traded for a similar Center talent wise. Dahlin/Scandella/ one of Guhle or Pilut, and Beaulieu traded for a bunch of useless pieces like we did.

Pilut dominated the AHL, and looked great in his first call up before getting dinged up.

Guhle still looks like a prospect struggling in the A...

Not going to trade a 22 year old breakout defensemen because theres some depth in the form of a prospect and some veterans...

you have no Veteran on your LHD though ( scandella could be seen as one since he's 28yo but it's not old for a Dman)

and Guhle in that ? last pairing ? Scandella ? beaulieu ?
I know you are high on Pilut, I'm too.

3rd pairings do matter... But I'm not trading a guy who has shown he can play legit top 4 role in the NHL, just because we've got a prospect (Guhle) and some gnarly vets (Scandella, Beaulieu).

That's just crazy. Be glad we have the depth to put those guys where they belong (3rd pair).

If Guhle breaks out... then someone can play the right side (Dahlin played the right side in Sweden)

Pilut-Dahlin
Guhle-Risto

Defensive Depth... not a problem you trade out of.

Gnarly Scandella ? Scandella is your best playing Dman with Dahlin.... You can't just throw Scandella in a bin, he is good and played well for you.... Makes no sense to say that vis a vis Scandella.

Wrong

Scandella can play as well as he possibly can and it does not make a 22 year old breakout D expendable.

This isn’t complicated. Prospects (Guhle) and Veterans (Scandella, etc) do NOT make the better player expendable.

come 2020 the feeling is Buffalo will have

Pilut, Dahlin and Risto their top 3
the probably resign McCabe to a 4 yr conteact
they also have Guhle, Borgen, a few few others at AHL now who could be part of the team
unsigned prospects: Samuelson, Laaksonen, Fitzgerald, Nyberg, at least 1 of the 4 1st round picks over the next 2 years they have.

Sure they have depth---that doesn't mean they trade ome of their best ones for nothing special

no..... lhd we have no depth

lhd not rhd. I don't want a well used RHD who is playing well on the right side to try to fit our hole on the left side.... we did that with Winger at center and look what happened.

In Laval dude. Pilut is not a ready NHL top 4 dman. Obviously I'd do this trade too because Pilut has some great tools and Evans is likely topping out in the bottom six at best but right now Pilut is not the answer to anything. When I said right now, I literally meant right now and that's all.

Pilut looks to be one of the better Euro free agent signings in a while. As was mentioned, he has legit long term top 4 potential and PP QB chops. He has been elite in both The SEL and AHL and looked very solid while adjusting in his short NHL tenure. He fits in perfectly age wise with the Sabres timeline.

He looks like found Gold and the Sabres aren't moving that.

in Laval we have ZERO good LHD, Lernout is not, Mete is but Mete is our only good LHD player with talent

He's a 22 year old who played 4 pro seasons in the 3rd best league in the world, and was named the league's best defensemen last year. He started in the AHL, largely to adjust to rink size... while there... he dominated. He did not look out of place in Buffalo. He was a difference maker... although the sample size is small, Pilut was at nearly a 70% ES GF%.

He was paired with Ristolainen in a top 4 role. They looked made for each other.

You've clearly never seen him play a single minute of NHL hockey. He's looked more than ready out there and has demonstrably made his partner (Risto) better.
