He will probably be available to re-sign next season. Unless he comes in and does an exceptional job, Flames are probably just renting him as insurance for the playoffs in case injuries hit the defensive corps. MAYBE the Flames re-sign him, but as of now it is more likely that he becomes a UFA this upcoming off-season.
I think the Flames will re-sign Fanta. It just makes too much sense to me.
  • Per Treliving, the Flames have been watching him since he was in Frolunda (4-5 years ago).
  • Prout is a pending UFA.
  • The Flames will be looking to save some cap on the backend, Stone could/should be moved out.
  • The Flames carried 8 D most of this year.
  • Valimaki & Kylington are waiver exempt still next season and it doesn't make sense to have them sitting in teh pressbox when they could be playing nightly.
That said, anything can (and usually does) happen.

Yeah re-signing Fantenberg for the 7D spot going forward is entirely possible if he does well. Agree that Stone likely gets moved and if Prout re-signs it's likely a 2 way deal this time to be an 8th D/AHL injury insurance guy like last year
