Noticed that all threads on him were closed. But on insider trading today Lebrun mentioned this.

- There was small talk about him not reporting to camp if not dealt. This is NOT true according to his agents
- However, his agents also confirmed that its fair to say considering Laine knows his name has been on trade discussions and hes had non consistent top line minutes; it would be mutually beneficial between Laine and the team if he was traded.
- There is clear communication between Laine and the Jets GM about this
- Laine remains a big part of the organization , a trade wont be just for the sake of it. It would have to make sense for the Jets.
- Quote " There is a clear understanding between both sides about where this is probably heading". Quote from Laine agent.

Laine was supposed to be their future, or a big part of it.

They have really soured on him.

Honest question, who has the cap space and assets to make the deal and sign him long term?

If Laine goes it better be for an elite Center or d man. Preferably a d man.
Not saying that will happen. But if you don’t get that, you shouldn’t be trading him.
I don't think you are going to get "elite" anything for him. Especially since it is apparent that the Jets might be somewhat desperate to move him.

Maybe Pesce, a 1st round pick, and a prospect?

desperate? how the f*** are we desperate to move him, if chevy doesn't get his price then he will go into the season with him. they will have the year to try and repair the relationship and if they can't then they will move him.

Shouldn’t the title be something like ”LeBrun: Laine’s agents see trade as the best option”?

At least put the LeBrun in there.

Any preference on LHD or RHD?

Not sure Islanders have what the Jets want but if we can't trade RHD Boychuck maybe we keep him and trade RHD Pulock(+ other stuff) for Laine, then turn around and trade Bailey for capspace to another team. That basically would get us out of cap trouble and get use the sniper we sorely need(although at a big hit to our defense)

I think the negotiations last year were a pretty big turning point. Jets probably didn't offer him anything close to the term/AAV he wanted (especially as all the other RFAs got big money deals including Matthews) so they decided on that two year bridge and the relationship did not improve in the interim.

Monahan straight up
Monahan is a 2nd line center on a Contender. He has no place on the jets with Scheifele and now Stastny as the 1/2 punch. You would have to add a couple 1sts for the jets to get rid of a player that would instantly be one of the best goal scorers the flames have ever had on an ELC and to take on a player in a position they clearly don’t need. Jets get scammed if it’s 1 for 1.

Would something around Danault + Caufield + 1st work?

Our C and RW are set for the future and those are parts that could be had.
