Who or what is "Patrik Lainetta?" A speciality coffee or pudding in the Finnish God's image?

:P

"Winnipeg Jets headcoach praised Patrik Laine"

You use -tta ending when some action is directed towards the 'object'. Finnish doesn't have prepositions(?) like in, to, from, at etc, instead the words are 'bent' with those endings... argh sorry I really don't know the right linguistic terms.

edit: sorry this explanation is so Pejorative Slured... :D

This game was more of the same that we have seen all season. The Jets looked did not look good at 5 on 5, esp (and no disrespect to the Panthers) considering who the opponent is, Wheeler continues to be a huge concern, he's basically a PP specialist at this point in the season, really hope that changes soon.

Good for Laine and Finnish fans to get a hattrick at home. Looked decent at 5 on 5 too, Lowry might be the Laine whisperer. Little continuing to carry on his fine form this season.

I’m pretty interested in the optics of the spectacle, I didn’t see it on tv so how did it look on the screen? Was it as any other regular season game or did something stick out?

On NHL.tv the quality of the stream was noticeably worse, it was not as high def as other games, the frame rate seemed worse, it was hard to see the puck and follow the play. Similar to the Oilers/Devils Sweden game. The atmosphere seemed great though.

Busy since the end of the game until now:

Nice rebound game from Helly

Laine, what a game, as Mo said he could have had 7!

Kuli looked a little better on his surgically repaired back.

Schief and Wheeler held Barkov in check but is that really what better players should solely be doing? Wheeler on the PP at times, dude get some glasses.

Ehler skated hard and drew some penalties a couple actually deserved, but still way too much Burmi in his game right now. 1 goal in 30 games at $6.35 M per season isn't good!

I’m really hyped about the TLL line up, it puts Laine in a position to succeed I think (I hope he is growing out his nasty beard). I was pleasantly surprised that Laine looked more physical and played a good cycle game with Lowry and Tanev.

It’s great to see Little with a no-holds barred player like Perrault and the speed/skill of Connor. That can be a tenacious North/South line that would pressure the opposition to make mistakes.

Nice to see Laine get the hatty… still concerned that his only non PP goal this season was the empty netter he got today.

Not really concerning had a few good shots on even strength
Couple a break away

I like Lowry with Laine for right now

I really liked Hellebuyck’s game tonight, boy was he sharp! Hutch vs Croissant tomorrow?

Also Wheeler could have had the empty netter with a wraparound but he tried to find Laine instead. Such a classy selfless move by the captain.

How did the game look on tv? Was anything sticking out as compared to normal NHL regular season games?
On TV, the arena seemed very bright as compared to most NHL arenas; even the ice seemed really white

He's joking about how the reaction on the forums has been incredibly negative on balance, despite the Jets never being below .500 wins or .500 points all season :)

And as for the Laine / Lowry connection, I was reminded by seeing Selanne again about how much success he (and Paul Kariya) had playing with the incredibly underrated Steve Rucchin. Wonder if there's potential for that chemistry here too?

Chemistry in hockey is a funny thing. Highly unpredictable. You have to take it where you find it.

The new lines looked good. Very promising. Hope it lasts.

Maurice really needs to do something about the penalties. I know, I know, I've heard him talk about not wanting to inhibit the players and have them skating on eggs shells. But this is ridiculous. It isn't because the Jets play such a physical game that they take so many penalties. It is just because they get lazy and/or careless. It needs to change.

Has this been a characteristic of other Maurice coached teams?

how late did this game start ? ? just watched my pvr and i set it to run for an extra 30 min incase ot and it stopped with 11 minutes left! so pissed..

Something not right. I set mine for an extra 30 minutes and I had about 5 minutes to spare. IIRC it started at about 1:15.

TSN always schedules 2.5 hours. That is never enough. I always add the 30 min. They seem to take about 2:40 on avg, with no OT, sometimes longer. I think the shortest I have seen was about 2:35.

Somewhere nice
I don't know if I've ever seen Mo not put a player out with an empty net that had an opportunity at a hat trick. If you remember one please share.

I'm not particularly just talking about hat trick here am I?
Im talking about Laine being put in that situation more at the end of the game.
Which usually, the coach just goes with CSW.
Even if Laine played a good game.

Im not here to put Laine against Connor. Im just giving out an example.

I also know that the coach sometimes put people late in the game if they need to chase a personal record. Hence i put "sometimes" because when Jets were missing the playoff year one by mid March.
Laine was trying to chase Matthews there were a lot of times he could have inserted Laine to end games but he didnt. That was the birth of Schiefele Wheeler combo.
I was ok with that because Jets went out with a bang and won their last 5-7.

I am not particularly talking about only a hat trick. As i know the rangers hat trick.

Also my comment was a compliment.
Because he never uses Laine at end of the game this year until this one.

If Laine had the motor he had yesterday he'd be leading the league in Goals and Points. At this point I have to question his effort thus far, the guy had 2 Breakaways, 1 slot shot and a very good differing shot that could had lead to a very good rebound and plenty of scoring chances(he was dominant 5v5 all night). I hope he can play the same tomorrow and keep it up moving forward but IMO his most recent game made all his other games look lazy.

Loved all of it. Exciting game, can not wait for todays rematch. Also won a bet with (Jets -1 goal) win, I was sure they score an empty netter. Being it Laine, might have kicked me out of my condo.
