He’s top 30 in the league in even strength points, and could hit 60 points with very little power play time. He’s absolutely a first line forward in his D+4.

He was compared to Huberdeau before the draft and Huberdeau’s D+4 is very similar, even a little worse.

Hit em with the 360 no scope

Wish that went in

Chris Kreider - 3rd most PPG in the league over the past 4 years, one of the best net front/deflectors
Vincent Trocheck - elite faceoff man nearly 60%, PPG centerman
Panarin - one of the best offensive and PP players in the world, obviously
Zibanejad - 4th in league PPG over the past 4 seasons

Sure other than Panarin, no world beaters on the 1st unit but tell me where Laf should go? Zibanejad and Kredier are 3rd and 4th in the league in PPG over the past 4 seasons. Trocheck is good all around ppg center who's almost 60% on the dots.

The rangers have been blessed with health for their top forwards so he's really not gotten a chance to get on the 1st unit.
Zibanejad actually sucks a pigs ass this season though, even on the PP.

Laf should have replaced him a while ago.

The best with the people that say he's a bust totally disregard the fact he's top-30 in ES points and has more ES points and goals than some "stars" who are force fed PP mins. So he's not a PP merchant, but none of that gets considered. But if he was a PP merchant, we would damn well know about it!

That's a pretty bad comparison seeing as Huberdeau isn't exactly know for going to the tough areas, but the scouting report on Lafreniere was he did and didn't shy away from physical game.

Although good to see the guy having a good season. Pretty impressive numbers this year

Yeah, career high of 56 at 22 and counting with 4-6 games remaining in the season. That's what you want out of your #1 pick right? Matthews has more goals this season than LafBust has points lmao.

Are you dense? No one is saying he's Matthews. Matthews is a top 5 player in the world. Comparing any #1 overall to a top 5 player in the world is a joke. There's a 1 overall every year. And as has been said countless times Lafreniere gets no PP1 time. How much PP1 time does Matthews get? Lafreniere has 1st line even strength production at 22. That's not a bust.

happy for the kid he surely faced a lot of pressure in NYC, personally ive never been blown away by his talent but more by his understanding of the game and adjustements, ive notice it in the wjc. it aint easy, also happy that Slafkovsky adjusted so well in his 2nd season, he also faced loads of pressure, kudos to those resilient kids. but still expect them to go through so rough patches.. its normal and to be expected, not every player going first overall is Mcdavid Lemieux Crosby Ovechkin Bedard who can be dominant players as they first hit the NHL rinks.

now dont expect him to do 100 pts next year having a another year like this one would be huge, then he would mean he has his foundation and ready to dominate shortly, (adjustements from efficiency to above the curve) we shall see how it goes.

He's been to an Eastern Conference Final while Matthews was on the golf course (again and again). I'd say thats as important as piling up regular season points and then choking in the playoffs every year.

What happened to Huberdeau? His point totals dropped off a cliff. From 115 points to 50-55 the last 3 years?

Laf's got more ECF appearances than Mattpoos lmao.

Auston Matthews definitely leads the league in first round disappearing acts so he's got that on Laf as well
