The official word:

MacDONALD, SIMMONDS OUT
Following the Flyers 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night, Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced the following injury update:

Forward Wayne Simmonds suffered a lower-body injury and is done for the rest of the regular season. Defenseman Andrew MacDonald suffered an upper-body injury and is done for the rest of the regular season.

Simmonds recorded his 28th goal of the season to help the Flyers to the victory over Chicago. His 28 goals leads the Flyers as does his 14 power-play goals, which also ranks third overall in the NHL. He also has 22 assists for a total of 50 points, having appeared in all 75 games for the Flyers this season.

MacDonald has appeared in 58 of 75 games for the Flyers, recording two goals and 10 assists for 12 points while averaging exactly 20 minutes of ice-time per-game.

MacDonald went down awkwardly in the Flyer's end. Not sure if that was it. A few guys took some pucks around the hands.

Simmonds went off lifting his leg after a blocked shot. That might have been it. But he played on?

I remember Simmonds was questionable for opening night after a blocked shot in preseason, but at least he got to 50 points before another one got him.

McGuire mentioned that he asked Simmonds in-game how he felt, if he was OK, and the reaction was "shaking his head" or some such pattern.

MacDonald hurt his hand blocking a shot, at least it was indicative during a replay.

You could tell as soon as it happened that it was likely broken. Was hoping Simmonds would get to 30 goals. Not to be.

Look at the bright side, they won't have to play for Craig Berube ever again.

Please, anyone but Lecavalier. Is there anyone else to call up from the Phantoms?

Also, maybe a short stint for Hagg or Alt?

It would certainly say a lot if they recalled someone to play over Vinny.

I don't think they call up either, Alt was hit head first into the boards and Hagg is better served with bigger AHL minutes. Odds are Manning is recalled.

Saw the AMac injury at the game...seemed pretty obvious he took the shot the wrong way. Did not see the Simmonds injury..that sucks..was hoping for 30 goals as well for him.

Simmonds has been amazingly consistent in scoring goals since joining the Flyers.

'11/'12 - 28 goals in 82 games
'12/'13 - 15 goals in 45 games (on pace for 27)
'13/'14 - 29 goals in 82 games
'14/'15 - 28 goals in 75 games

Definitely could've seen him breaking that 30 goal barrier this season.

Hoping for a Straka recall. My guess is Manning gets called up and Vinny plays.

Don't call up anybody if they're going to end up sitting behind Lecavalier.

Lecavalier should not play the rest of the season. If he's trying to get traded, he needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap and put on the shelf.

Oh no sorry I meant that I hoped Straka would get recalled but would guess that they play Vinny instead.

I don't think they'll call any forward up right away. They have 12 fit forwards for Saturday's game.

Simmer was hit by streit's shot while screening a goalie on a PP at the end of the game

sounds like AMac's injury is bad enough that he's contemplating retirement [wishful thinking post of the day]

Simmer also took one in the leg earlier in the game. He skated over to the bench with his skate completely off the ice and wincing.
