YOU left out a FEW things
  • Kovys got good value right now with season he had, 78 pts in 60 gms
  • Any team signing him for more than 1 yr has to worry about bolting because of the 35+ contract
  • Kovy came to us, not the opposite
  • His teamates are all coming to play on NHL teams
  • If Kovy wants to play next yr in the NHL he can only go through us

All the complaints of he's old NOW, what does 2 seasons from NOW mean for his age?

No but your right

You forgot to point out that "with the season he had" is pretty meaningless considering it was in the KHL and not the NHL. :shakehead

Oh yeah because they're playing baseball in KHL.

When you get guys who couldn't hack the NHL (or failed miserably offensively) and are near the top of the league production wise... it shouldn't be a surprise that no one puts much faith in Kovy's transition to the NHL when he's 7pts and 16 goals behind the scoring leader in the KHL.

Didn't forget.
Thought as a fan, your payin attention.
Regardless of what the return for him is, or even if he comes back you will minimize it.

As an aside, it seems completely unfair that the Devils can trade Kovalchuk.

What was unfair was losing a 1st rounder bc the league decided they did not like the shenanigans teams were playing
But not with Luongo or Pronger contracts just kovy!
The argument is that pushed back any kind of development we lost with the 1st going from #12 (I think) to #30

Wasn't the first round pick not taken?

I'm referring more to the allowing him to go to the KHL and get out from that insane contract AND still control his rights.

this dude quit on the team after they bent over backwards for him and got penalized for it

how is it unfair they can trade him? They own his rights just as tehy would with any retired player until the age of 35. Thats the rules.

Because he MAY actually be worth something!

you seriously believe that if he had a 20 point season in the KHL it wouldn't impact his value? of course it isn't the same, but it matters that he improved on his previous one and his value is highest when he does well there.
