TK lacks the innate "shake and bake" of the top smurfs, just look at Giroux slam on the brakes and defenders fly by him.
TK tends to play at one speed though he's slowly improving, but doesn't know how to set up opposing players.
Good example, look at Patrick skating today, best I've seen him and elite playmaking level where he was just deking guys out of their jocks.
Sanheim does some of the same things and they're both much bigger than TK.
TK simply can't do that, he relies on his burst/speed to beat guys, but if they take good angles he's often stymied.
TK's other problem is his shooting, he doesn't have the arrogance of top shooters, he's too inconsistent and often tries to shoot too hard instead of just firing quickly and accurately, that can probably be improved but some is also innate.
TK is a tough SOB, he's got good hands, made a great play on his goal, when he's confident has a good wrist shot, and should be a 30 goal scorer when he grows up given the quality of centers he'll play with (in two years, will it matter whether it's Couts, Patrick or Frost?). He has great straight line speed, if he can just develop better lateral agility at high speed he could blow by a lot of defenders (right now he gets stripped at the blue line or squeezed into the boards too often). And if he learns how to gear down, suck defenders into slowing down with him, then use his burst to catch them offbalance, he might be really dangerous.
Focus is his other issue, he's improved but still at times seems to be "lost in space."
