I would disagree, Klingberg at 4.2 is more valuable then Mcdavid at 12 million if you’re trying to win a cup.
McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, just to cover the M’s.

He's an elite Offensive Dman sure but he's still well behind a number of other Dmen once you put the entire package together. Similar to Tyson Barrie in Colorado.
He's not even in the Top 20 in the league in terms of value.

As a trade piece with that contract its difficult to find something better ? You can easily plug that 4.2 a year that in pretty much everywhere . Try that with McDavids giant contract. Good luck.

Yeah he'd be in that second grouping, arguments could be made for everyone of those players, Reilly would be in there, there would be a few other players that would belong in that group that are left of as well. Not leaving anyone off as a "slight" against them, more of just taking the names that were originally listed and putting them in the correct order

Of course without that cap circumventing contract that brought the average down he'd be >8.7 cap hit and they would have 1 cup only.

I would not take Carlson above Klingberg, not even close. Carlson isn't even that good of a player. Other than this season, Brodie is definitely in the 2nd tier. If you consider Vlasic better than Klingberg (I don't this season), then you must surely consider the same for Giordano right? Giordano's defensive results are only a bit worse than Vlasic but he has much better offensive results and both take ridiculously tough defensive assignments. I would easily take Klingberg over Burns at this point as well. Lindholm's elite defensive game isn't enough for me to take him over the vastly superior offensive Klingberg.
