As a Edmontonian, I really liked Kostin and really don’t like yamomoto.

Fwiw, draisaitl always spoke highly about playing with yamo. He is a little waterbug.

Personally, I felt him to be quite useless this season.

Picking up two guys for free, don't mind it. Both are young and have some upside. Not much risk.

Kinda makes me wonder if there isn't also something more in the works.

Kostin is a great depth guy. Yammamoto is meh. In the end we get them for free so cool.

Don't mind this trade, but it would be nice to see a trade where we aren't acquiring a reclamation project.

Not world changers, but why were we able to get them for free?

Helps reach cap floor, free, and more competition for the bottom 6. Nothing to complain about here. And could be some untapped potential for both.

Hope a trade for a top 6 scorer can materialize too.

Klim played for St Louis so you could see this coming… There are rumors he is heading back to the K.

I like both of these pickups and obviously the price was right.
Might be with the usage he was getting in Edm, with barely 10 minutes a night. We have more ice time to give him not double-shifting McDrai all the time.

So we added depth for nothing. If Kostin heads to the KHL I assume we keep his rights since he is a RFA. He may stay with more ice time available in Detroit? Got to think we move on from a guy or 2 though as their is a bit of a log jam upcoming.

Yamamoto is going to add a nice piece of offense , sure he has something to prove.

So he simply made Kenny a favor by taking these two guys

It's the signing rights to Kostin for taking on 1 x 3 million of Yamamoto. I think they're both valuable enough assets and would improve our bottom 6.

Whether or not we can keep Kostin from bolting to the K is a different question but this is a can't-lose move for Yzerman lol.
